Description
The aim of the initiative is to strengthen the joint EEA and Baltic cooperation platform, in which stakeholders shall share experience and expertise in research management, as well as promote development of common future initiatives and common cooperation mechanisms.
As part of the initiative, it is intended to:
- gather and analyse the research management experience of the donorstates programme partners involved in the initiative;
- develop, organize and maintain regular activities for the experience exchange, bringing stakeholders together and strengthening the bilateral research cooperation
Summary of the results
The initiative “Strengthening the EEA-Baltic Joint Cooperation Platform for Research Administrators” implemented three key activities:
1) Visit to Iceland (31/08-3/09/2022)
The representatives of Latvia visited Iceland to exchange experiences and learn about Rannis''structure, research program monitoring, and IT system solutions. Discussions covered program administration, evaluation of scientific quality and social impact, and participation in EU programs. This visit strengthened cooperation.
2) Visit to Lithuania (27–28/09/2023)
During the visit to Lithuania, Latvian representatives explored the Lithuanian Research Council’s role in science policy and program implementation. The visit fostered collaboration in EEA/N programs, established new connections, and exchanged practices on research program management and administration.
3) Final Seminar (4–5/12/2024)
The seminar reviewed Latvia’s achievements in EU research frameworks, addressed open science, data security, and IT solutions, and discussed future cooperation opportunities. It outlined priorities for Baltic-Nordic collaboration and established steps for developing a joint research platform.
Results: Platform for collabiration among EEA and Baltic research bodies, recommendation for improving science management of research councils, proposal for joint initiatives to the EEA Bilateral Fund. This initiative has strengthened regional ties and set a foundation for sustainable cooperation in research management.
