Description

This project is driven by a compelling mission to develop an innovative modular lightweight wheelchair, designed to address the specific needs of children affected by pediatric neuromuscular diseases (NMDs). These conditions, which typically manifest in childhood and affect the peripheral nervous system, have a profound and lifelong impact on affected individuals and their families. With an estimated 500,000 NMD patients in Europe, the demand for tailored, functional solutions is evident. SIBON Ltd., a company established in 2018, is at the helm of this pioneering initiative.

The dedicated team behind this venture has been diligently working to craft a wheelchair that combines advanced electro-mechanical, electronic, and software elements, offering versatile everyday functionalities. With a strong network of partners well-versed in welfare technology, SIBON Ltd. is poised to introduce a novel product to a market lacking a producer of children''s wheelchairs in Bulgaria. Moreover, their modular platform wheelchair, a rarity in Europe, opens doors to broader horizons.

The proposed project will introduce new technology and a new product on the market which will:

• Ensure the most used and important paediatric movements and positions – seating and standing positions;
• Give availability of stretching function with pre-defined parameters for the legs;
• Provide modularity for easy transportation and weight distribution along the modules – each module does not exceed 25 kg;
• Ensure control of motion and safety features for the user.
