Description

Project “Museum of gardening – a living tale of the gardening region Lyaskovets” is aimed at creating possibilities for improvement of the presentation of the Museum of gardening in Lyaskovets as a tourist destination and improvement of its presentation as a tourist product through renovating the document hall and the exterior exhibition areas of the Museum. The unique theme and presentation of the Museum of gardening in Lyaskovets is dedicated to the story of the Bulgarian gardeners, who became famous in XIX and XX c. in Europe and the world with their knowledge and skills for growing vegetables. This unique historical process has a great impact on the region but is fairly unknown to the Bulgarian society and the Museum is an interesting destination with this specific theme. Through the activities, planned in the project proposal, the exhibition areas will be modernized and renovated, as well as the whole presentation of the museum as a tourist product. With the improvement of the equipment – replacing old exhibition equipment and improvement of the conditions in the exterior exhibition area, will be created environment answering to the expectations of the visitors. For popularizing the museum through different ways targeted to visitors from the whole country, it is planned renovating the design of the existing website of the Museum; as well as buying souvenirs. The implementation of project “Museum of gardening – a living tale of the gardening region Lyaskovets” will provide an opportunity for popularizing of the Museum of gardening for the general public and through that popularizing and preserving the local history of the town of Lyaskovets.

Summary of project results

The main problems and challenges during the project implementation were related to the changes in the prices of the planned activities and costs. There was a need to change the activities and expenses, but due to the efforts of the PO experts and their competent assistance, all activities and expenses were realized and reported in a timely manner.

Through the implementation of the activities, the Museum of Gardening has become a living fairy tale for Lyaskovets horticultural region. Thus, the museum has become a new tourist product, which will increase visitors interest in the local history and popularize the museum. During the implementation of the project, six job offering/seeking events were organized and held. After the end of this activity, five of the employers present at the event hired 15 people. Also, 4 people were employed in the Museum under the project. After the project completion, one of them was permanently employed full time at the Museum.

The results of the project are related to the improved facility and the presentation of the museum as a tourist product. Thus, visitors interest in local history was increased and the museum was promoted. The exhibition areas were modernized and renovated under the project by replacing outdated and depreciated showcases in the museums documentary hall, the condition of the outdoor exhibition areas was improved and a video surveillance system was created to protect the museum exposition. All visitors to the museum and city guests will benefit from the results achieved. After the project completion, one of the people employed under the project was permanently employed full time at the Museum. The remaining three people employed under the project applied for employment in other institutions based on their training and gained experience.
