Description

Global statistics show that an average of 611,000 people visit hospitals every day, of which 30% mostly have concerns that should not be directly addressed to a doctor. Therefore, it is of critical importance that medical institutions have modern ICT solutions that simplify the work and activities of all the people there.

The focus of Hospital Wayfinder 2.0 project is to further empower results from project „3D Hospital Wayfinder and Management System“ by implementing new technologies and by integrating developed features into one software, that can be sold wordlwide with minimal setup costs. Implemented technologies include reversed way of indoor positioning, augmented reality for presenting different data and AI based scheduling systems. Project goal is also to presents the results of the project and participate in ISE exhibition to introduce the new paradigm for visiting and managing healthcare institutions – Hospital Wayfinder software, that makes visiting hospitals pleasent for visitors and makes the work and planning for hospitals more effective.

Summary of project results

Project was targeted to enhance the results from the main call project (development of Hospital Wayfinder).

The project leveraged the results of the previously funded main call project through reverse positioning, which allows users, or primarily phones, to be positioned via Bluetooth without a separate application running on the phones. In addition, we have also tested the positioning of special wristbands (for patients). In addition, the project integrated AR (augmented reality) capabilities more closely with the software, and now they can be used automatically in all projects. Additionally, AI was tested for location matching and the ability to call up route guidance from an external application.

This is a future solution that is being piloted in Estonian hospitals.

Summary of bilateral results

The cooperation with the partner was very close and productive, and the cooperation will continue. The partners have planned visits to each other, during which further cooperation will be discussed. At the moment, the partner also has a new project coming up and a few more potential new clients.
