Description

The main objective of the project is to improve the energy efficiency of the Educational Center for Extracurricular Activities and Culture in Blagoevgrad by implementing appropriate energy efficiency measures through which the building will meet the conditions of the national definition of "building with close to zero energy consumption“ as per the provisions of the prepared energy audit.The implementation of the project will contribute to the achievement of the specific objectives of the call, related to the reduction of carbon dioxide emissions, energy consumption, saving financial resources, improving the lives of citizens.The project activities include the implementation of construction and installation works in connection with the introduction of energy efficiency measures in the Educational Center for Extracurricular Activities and Culture in Blagoevgrad according to a prepared investment project and Energy Efficiency Inspection Report. Energy saving measures related to the improvement of the thermal technical characteristics of the enclosing elements - walls, roof and transparent enclosing elements and energy saving measures related to the heating and air conditioning systems in the building and other energy consumer installations are envisaged. Activities for construction supervision, designer''s supervision, project management, information and publicity, financial audit of the project and activities for exchange of experience and good practices in the field of EE and RES are also foreseen.

Summary of project results

The main objective of the project is to improve the energy efficiency of the Educational Center for Extracurricular Activities and Culture in Blagoevgrad which had poor energy efficiency and high electricity costs.

For the introduction of the energy efficiency measures in the selected object of intervention the following works were implemented: 1. Replacement of windows - includes replacement of the old wooden windows with new PVC;  2. Thermal insulation of interior walls - includes installation of thermal insulation system on interior walls; 3. Thermal insulation floor - includes laying a thermal insulation system on the basement ceiling and replacement of windows on an unheated basement; 4. Thermal insulation roof - includes laying thermal insulation on the roof of the building; 5. Replacement of lighting with new LED lighting; 6. Construction of a new VRF heating and cooling system; 7. Construction of a photovoltaic power plant for own needs; 8. Energy automation and management system, including energy consumption monitoring.

As a result of the project implementation on the territory of the municipality the annual reductions of CO2 emissions is 513.98 tons, the annual energy savings -435,575 MWh /year, and the annual cash savings - 83 150.00 BGN and at least 210  users of the building directly benefit from the introduced energy efficiency measures.

Summary of bilateral results

Improved bilateral cooperation with interested stakeholders in the field of energy efficiency to present good practices and future development of the city and the municipality in this regard.
