Description

The initiative “Czech and Norwegian Perspectives on New Security Threats in relation to Russian War on Ukraine” involve joint research of two institutions – the Czech Institute of International Relations and the Norwegian Institute of International Affairs. The initiative consists of four main activities: organizing three workshops, writing three policy briefs, writing a joint policy report, and developing a grant proposal. Both partners will also visit each other in Prague and Oslo.

Summary of the results

Through the realization of the initiative, all the planned activities and bilateral indicator values were achieved.

- The number of workshops: 3 (1 in Prague, 1 in Oslo, 1 online meeting, 1 kick off meeting).
- The number of research results attained by both institutions together: 5 (3 Policy briefs, 1 Joint policy paper, the submission of the project proposal to Horizon Europe programme).
- The number of participants from the Czech Republic in the bilateral activities: 35 (counting all workshops/study visits and their sessions).
- The number of participants from donor countries in the bilateral activities: 24 (counting all workshops/study visits and their sessions).
There was intensive cooperation and coordination between the two institutions (grant beneficiary and bilateral partner) in all phases of the initiative – that is, in the phases of its preparation, realization and conclusion. On the basis of the process and conclusion of the realization of this initiative, the involvement of both partners progressed exactly according to the project plan.

The initiative contributed to a better understanding of the key factors of the fears that are shared by the foreign policies of both Czechia and Norway. On the basis of the institutions’ positive cooperation and experiences in the context of the initiative, there are plans for their further cooperation in submitting project proposals to excellent research projects (e.g. Horizon Europe, ERC grants, etc.).
