Description

The initiative aims at strengthening the research capacity in social sciences applied in sustainable and integrated transport and mobility planning in the engaged institutions. It builds on advanced Czech-Norwegian research cooperation, exchange of experience, and good praxis between the University of Jan Evangelista Purkyně and the Institute of Transport Economics. The initiative has two main outputs a joint future project draft and a conference in the Czech Republic supplemented with meetings in the Czech Republic and Norway.

Summary of the results

The project facilitated the exchange of knowledge between both countries, fostering the transfer of best practices from Norway to Czechia. A significant aspect of this exchange was the conference titled "The Future of Urban Mobility in the Context of Societal Challenges," held in Prague, which provided a platform for knowledge dissemination. The conference featured a keynote address by Aud Tennoy from TOI, which was well-received by Czech practitioners and researchers.

A pivotal component of the project was the site visit to four cities of varying sizes in Norway. During these visits, we engaged with municipal representatives to gain first-hand insights into their mobility policies and innovative initiatives in sustainable mobility. A report summarizing our findings is accessible on the EMPIRIC website. This report highlights innovative approaches in strategic transport planning, offering inspiration to both Czech and Norwegian municipalities. We plan to disseminate this report among relevant institutions, including city experts, regional authorities, and ministries, through various activities conducted by both research teams. Additionally, we aim to integrate this knowledge into the education curriculum at UJEP, enriching students'' learning experiences with practical insights from real-world scenarios.
