Summary of project results

Project objective was to integrate restorative justice-based approaches and methods into the provision of support services for children and adolescents with abuse, trauma and mental health problems in milieu-based therapeutic residential care homes across Estonia.

The project trained 10 milieu therapists (the team working at NGO Oskar Allik Home) in restorative justice (training of 48h) and developed guidance material for therapists and specialists working at milieu-based therapeutic residential care home.

Additionally, 7 mentees were selected and trained on-spot with the mileu therapists.

The milieu therapists working at NGO Oskar Allik Home are practicing the restorative justice methods as much as it is possible with patients with hard mental disorders. The trained mentees are practicing the methods in their usual work environment - shelters, kindergartens, schools, childrens'' homes. Oskar Allik Home is planning to carry out a follow-up seminar with the mentees in autumn and continues with the mentoring programmes at least once-twice a year. The restorative justice methods are being integrated into training programmes for therapeutic residential care home specialists.
