Description

The project will be implemented in 2 marginalized urban areas (Satmarel, Satu Mare and Pirita, Baia Mare) in which over 500 Roma face serious problems that are perpetuated for several generations: material deprivation, poor living conditions, school dropout around the age of 12-13, underage mothers, low employment rate, segregation and discrimination. The intervention ensures a coherent and synergistic development of services for the empowerment of children and young people and changing the negative attitudes of the majority population towards them, ensuring the increase of sustainability of 2 CSOs operating in these communities. Roma children and young people from the target groups have always had poor access to education. Poor families do not have positive models of professional success in their midst. Thus, unlike children from other families, they have no way of understanding the idea of pursuing a career. Acting on the creation of innovative programs through which 110 children and young people  interact with different professionals passionate about their jobs, the project ensures a strong intervention for the development of inclusion skills. To believe in the potential of these children and young people and to reflect it so strongly that they can see for themselves how capable they are, and have the courage to believe and materialize step by step their aspirations for a better future, is the vision of this project. Equally important is the emphasis on making the world around them aware of the many benefits of investing in empowering these children to break the barriers of poverty. They are a valuable resource for the community, they are the future! Any child trapped in the spiral of dropping out of school and unable to get out of the vicious circle of poverty is a loss to society as a whole. It is up to us, the local community, to provide the support these children need to grow to their full potential.
