AIM: organization of the Norwegian and Icelandic editions of the NeoArte - Art Synthesizer festival and the Neo Edu Arte project in 2022-2024.
EVENTS PLANNED IN THE PROJECT:
• Implementation of the NeoArte Art Synthesizer festivals in Oslo and Reykjavik - in both cases a three-day festival of contemporary music is planned, presenting concerts, artistic installations and performances.An integral part of each festival will be workshops for children and teenagers, culminating in a mini-concert. Each of the festivals will be devoted to contemporary music and art, with particular emphasis on the influence of the latest technologies on artistic activities. Each event will mainly feature works from artists from the countries participating in the project. Each edition will have its patron, who will be composers from Norway and Iceland. Individual editions will be held in Oslo (February 2023) and in Reykjavik (March 2024). As an accompanying event, the Polish part of the project will take place (11th edition of the NeoArte festival in Gdańsk - October 2023), which will be financed from other funds.
• Neo Edu Arte - an educational project aimed at young composers from Poland, Norway and Iceland – 6 composers (2 each from Poland, Norway and Iceland). It assumes:
- implementation of a commission for a composer (including fees) for a string quartet
- workshops with renowned composers and performers,
- workshops on career coaching and functioning on the music market,
- premieres of songs during NeoArte Iceland
- recording a CD.

Summary of project results
Major needs that the Neo Voyager project addressed: 1. Increase of possibilities for international cooperation between Poland, Norway and Iceland. Regardless of communication and travelling in today’s world there are still barriers disabling the realization of mutual projects among European artists and organizers. Some of these barriers include economic disparities and different legal regulations. Realization of Neo Voyager project will enable communication, help to acquaint with organizing partners and make a step toward economic balance. 2. Increase of contemporary art audience and making aware of positive influence of high culture on life In times of society’s enrichment and also need for more valuable way of spending free time, it is worthy to promote events that have not only purely entertaining side but also offers enhancement for intellectual, emotional and spiritual areas of our lives – aspects that influence our inner development. Contemporary music and art with their creativity, unpredictability, broad spectrum of new technologies, new areas of mind activation and rooting into contemporary realities are surely to fill those needs. 3. Education of cultural cadre and performers in cultural entrepreneurship. Success in cultural branch is equally dependent on artistic quality and its management. Enhancement of competences in marketing area, extension and care for consumers of culture, creation of business strategies, contact network construction, engagement of business world in artistic activities are all rudimentary for the development of cultural sector.
Projects idea was the realisation of Norwegian and Icelandic edtions of NeoArte Synthesizer of Arts Festival within years 2022-2024. NeoArte Festival is an international event held in Gdansk, Poland since 2012. This festival presented the most interesting trends in contemporary music and art. Due to realisation of this project, NeoArte Synthesizer of Arts Festival had a chance to share its impact with audience in Norway and Iceland. Resulting involvement and collaboration with foreign partners made an excellent occasion for cultural exchange among artists, cultural life participants and cultural institutions from Poland, Norway,and Iceland. Each of the festivals were devoted to contemporary music and art with special consideration for the newest technologies regarding artistic endeavors. Each event mainly presented the repertoire and artists from the countries directly involved in this project. Every edition had their patrons-composers from Norway and Iceland respectively. Individual editions took place in Oslo (February 2023) and Reykijavik (March 2024). As an accompanying event, therewas Polish part of the project - 11th Edition of NeoArte Synthesizer of Arts Festival in October 2023 in Gdańsk - financed from other sources. Artistic programmes and organization of individual festivals were the result of collaboration between curating committees and coordinators from project countries along with additional contemporary music cultural institutions. Integral part of this project is called Neo Edu Arte - project focused on young composers from Iceland, Norway, and Poland. As a result of involved composing competition, 6 composers were awarded as laureates. Their prize included composer''s commission for string quartet work. Young composers had a chance to work with renowned composers during three workshop sessions organized in each of engaged countries. Apart from composing workshops, young composers had an opportunity to collaborate with NeoQuartet ensemble. There was also offered an additional support for career development through coaching sessions with cultural entrepreneurship consultant. Premieres of young composers'' compositions took place during Icelandic edition of festival in 2024.
Implementation of the project increased competences of project''s receivers and creators alike. International cooperation, mutual respect for differences, free exchange of knowledge and experience, reciprocal inspiration and support, creation of international community is the guarantee for establishment of conscious, sensitive tissue of European and worldwide society in the future. Realisation of the project was an enormous chance for the creation of firm network of personal and institutional relationships among culture of three project countries. It was also an occasion for the development of new organizational and artistis quality that emanate don other European countries.
Within the project were implemented:
- 27 artistic events were carried out as a result of cooperation with partner institution under the project (20 music and performing arts events, 3 cultural and artistic education events, 2 interdisciplinary events, 2 events aimed at the inclusion of ethnic and national minorities)
- 2 events improving the cultural competences of audiences;
- 1380 people attended the cultural and artistic events organized by the project
- 39 professional staff were trained
- 2200 promotional materials were prepared
The place of the implementation location: Oslo, Rejkiawik, Warszawa, Katowice, Bergen
Groups of recipients were:
1. Culture professionals – artistic circles involved in contemporary music, composers, students of art academies, circles involved in jazz and improvised music, performers and professionals of contemporary visual art. 2. Culture recipients – audience not connected professionally to cultural branch (culture consumers age 20-60). Predominantly high education professionals from creative industries, hobbyists and culture and art aficionados. 3. Children and youth age 7-14
