Description

Stable and high-quality services and assistance to victims of violence has been set up to support and assist through subsidies and grants, and for this reason, it is necessary to implement this project to maintain services for victims in the region. Through the implementation of the project and its activities, the project promoter plans to maintain the quality of providing specialized counselling services to victims of violence, and at the same time, plans to move these specialized services to other districts of the Banská Bystrica Region. The project will also benefit from an effective network of entities and experts who can help victims in a targeted, accurate and immediate manner and direct them to further professional support and assistance.

Summary of project results

The project "Building Bridges for Help" was designed to address the need for specialized support for individuals, specifically women and mothers with children, who have experienced domestic and gender-based violence, including challenges such as domestic abuse, sexual harassment, and stalking. Recognizing the complexity of these situations, the project sought to secure and stabilize counseling services, especially focusing on children who had been exposed to or were at risk of violence and required specialized educational and developmental support. Additionally, the project aimed to expand these essential services to additional districts within the Banská Bystrica region to make professional assistance more accessible.

he project implemented a variety of activities and outputs:

  • Counseling Services: The team provided both basic and specialized social, psychological, and legal counseling, along with assistance in asserting rights and legally protected interests, to women and mothers with children affected by violence.
  • Enhanced Support for Children: Recognizing the specific needs of children exposed to violence, the project intensified its efforts in therapeutic and special educational support to address learning and behavioral challenges.
  • Educational Campaign for Professionals: Through workshops, training sessions, internships, and team-building activities, the project focused on enhancing the skills of counselors in crucial areas, such as distinguishing conflict from violence, developing safety plans, coordinating with police and legal entities, and addressing trauma in children.
  • Awareness Campaign: Aimed at the general public, this campaign raised awareness on domestic and gender-based violence and facilitated better access to support through modern digital content, social media, and press engagements.
  • Networking and Collaboration: The project fostered cooperation among partner organizations to ensure women with experience of violence seeking help could be quickly connected to specialized support networks and professional resources.

he project achieved results for various groups:

  • Women and Mothers with Children exposed to violence: By stabilizing and expanding specialized services across the Banská Bystrica region, the project ensured that these women and their children had reliable access to comprehensive counseling and legal support tailored to their needs.
  • Children Exposed to Violence: With an increased emphasis on therapeutic and special educational support, children received dedicated resources to support their learning, behavior, and emotional well-being.
  • Counselors and Professionals: The training and educational activities improved the competencies of the project’s counselors and intervention team, equipping them with specialized skills for handling complex situations and providing more effective support.
  • Public Awareness: The awareness campaign enhanced public understanding of the issues surrounding domestic and gender-based violence, encouraging a more supportive community and improving access to information about available assistance services.
