Description

TESLE - Teachers'' Experience in Science and Language Education - is a bilateral institutional cooperation project between Gymnázium Teplice in the Czech Republic and Numedal videregaende skole in Norway. Teachers from both schools share their best practices in using ICT in lessons, solving applied science problems and combining all this with teaching how to be an active citizen in Europe.
After two workshops, the project team will create teaching modules and pilot them on students. Thanks to the project, teachers and students will experience what it means to be an active European citizen who can communicate across borders, discuss with others and learn from them. This experience will motivate teachers and students to learn more about healthy societies and not to be afraid to work across the European borders.

Summary of project results

Teachers from both secondary schools collaborated and shared best practices in pedagogy, methodology, and specific subjects taught. They exchanged knowledge about different teaching approaches, examples of good practice, and methods of using ICT. They analysed strategies for problem-solving in applied scientific disciplines, all linked to the theme of active citizenship in Europe.

During the project period, two meetings were held, one in Norway and the other in the Czech Republic. Ten educational modules were created and implemented for the target group of students around the age of 18. Participants had the opportunity to experience what it means to be an active European citizen. They engaged in discussions, established foreign contacts with others, contributed to changes, and effectively contributed to our democracy. The motivation behind the project was to promote understanding of well-functioning societies and the courage to work beyond the borders of Europe.

The international project contributed to a better awareness among participants about the school systems and cultures of both involved countries. Participants had the opportunity to get to know each other through discussions, sharing best practices, and developing mutual responsibility and tolerance. They also improved their teamwork skills and strengthened bilateral institutional relationships between the schools.

Summary of bilateral results

This project was a good opportunity for teachers to get to know each other across European borders. It was also important that teachers could communicate in English as the project language. Engaging in discussions about best practices allowed teachers to gain a heightened awareness of their own teaching profession and practices. Through these discussions and collaborations, teachers were exposed to new ideas and inspiration, leading them to approach topics in novel ways.
