Description

The initiative shall build a new partnership between the Czech and the Norwegian entities with a similar focus - the European Cultural Route of Saints Cyril and Methodius (ECRCM) and the Association for the Route of St. Olaf Ways (ACSOW). The initiative aims at the exchange of experience and best practices between the experts in the Cultural Route development within the programme Cultural Route of the Council of Europe, development of human resources thanks to the foreign study trip of Czech experts to Norway, and the development of joint activities with the foreign partner.

Summary of the results

The bilateral cooperation between the Czech promoter ECRM and the Norwegian partner ACSOW proceeded according to the plan. As a result of mutual visits the following deliverables can me mentioned: (a) exchange of experiences and best practices between ECRM and St. Olav Ways experts in the field of cultural route development within the framework of the programme Cultural Route of the Council of Europe, b) development of human resources of Czech and Slovak experts in terms of the creation and management of the cultural tourism product in the field of pilgrimage tourism , and c) development of joint activities with a foreign partner with whom a Memorandum of Cooperation has been concluded for future partnership. 6 Czech, 2 Slovak and 10 Norwegian experts participated.

As these are two Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe with a similar focus on the development of pilgrimage tourism, the cooperation aims to ensure a similar quality of service on the pilgrimage trails as people travel differently across Europe to follow these trails. This is the main challenge of where the next steps of the cooperation will go.
