Nature conservation (NC) is an important public topic, however,there are only minimum available possibilities in education for the concerned public as well as conservationists after they have left school. This project will offer 8 specialized courses (global climate change, critical thinking in NC, environmental friendly agriculture, forestry, water protection, special types of managements, NC and legislation, development of Czech landscape). E-learning will include self-study, synchronous study and additional on-line sources of information. The aim of this project is to improve comprehension of nature conservation by general public as well as by the specialized groups for better understanding of its importance in the Czech society.
Summary of project results
Nature and landscape conservation is an important subject of public debate, however, it´s linked with some negative connotation in the Czech republic. One of the reasons for this situation is a low expert education about nature and its conservation among the public as well as conservationists and public administration officers. A knowledge about nature and best conservation practices is still growing and therefore it´s necessary to educate people during their whole life. In this project, we created on-line platform for education in nature conservation and we prepared and launched eight courses – Evolution of the czech landscape, Nature conservation and law, Special types of management practices, Water protection, Forestry, Environmental-friendly agriculture, Critical thinking in nature conservation and Global climate change. Each of them introduce an whole term, bachelor-stage course. Videolectures and other materials (interviews with experts, best practice, interesting websites) are used in the courses. An educational principle is based on ERR system – evocation (what do you know about the subject?), realization (new information, lecture), reflection (what was it all about?). There were 105 successful graduates (there were 508 registered people-courses). It surpassed our expectation (80). The graduates are mainly from public administration and nature conservation organizations. The courses will be offered minimally once a year in the future. The courses are introduced on
