Description

We would like to improve the starting position of Roma children from Slaný during their integration into the main educational stream. Support and maintain their success at school. We have been working in the region since long time and we know the situation- schoolchildren do not prosper well, and the support from parents is poor. Our target group will be 20 children and 15 parents. We will achieve our goals by providing individual support, intensified school preparation, extra lessons, motivation, free time activities and by having emphasized engagement of parents.

Summary of project results

The aim of the project was to contribute to positive change in the situation of socially disadvantaged Roma children from the village Slaný (Central Bohemia), in terms of improving the starting position of those children within mainstream education - increasing and maintaining the educational success of children. Within the project we have established cooperation with 20 children of the Elementary School 1st grade, whom we regularly tutored at least 2 hours a week. Furthermore, these children engage in circle time activities, which sensibly spend time and rehearsed theatrical performances that took place at the end of the project. The preparation of the show voluntarily participated and five parents of our children. At the conclusion of the project was a methodology and know-how based on experience and practice experienced during the project period, which has continued to help workers Romodrom o.p.s. when working with children. The project has achieved improved results in more than 15 children in grades 1-2. Furthermore, about half of the parents became more interested in school performance of their children and became more involved in their schoolwork and homework with their children. The project realized leisure activities on which they rehearsed theatrical performances that took place at the end of the project and were attended by 18 children performers on stage. Methodology on guidelines and examples of good practice was prepared.
