Description

The project aims to promote equal opportunities in education of Roma preschool children and children attending the 1st and 2nd classes of primary schools, in order to avoid premature failure and subsequent transition into practical or special schools. We will achieve the goal through activities focused not only on children but also on their parents, so that after the end of the project they themselves will be able to continue to support their children. We will engage also authorities of local government and autonomy, nursery and primary schools in the activities and we will appeal to their role and responsibilities in the field of inclusive education.

Summary of project results

Pre-school education is one of the main prerequisites for successful implementation especially of the initial stages of primary education, particularly for children at risk of school failure. The care of these children has however its reserves in the town Chrudim. It was therefore important to deal with this area extensively and focus mainly on the motivation and support families in the area of pre-school and early-school education. By operating a pre-school club we have increased the number of places in pre-school education in the town and through other project activities we helped parents and children to integrate more into society and reduce the handicaps that are associated primarily with education. In the framework of the project the publication Pre-school club Amálka - education of socially disadvantaged children was created. The aim of this publication was to describe examples of good practices that work in our pre-school club and offer that as an inspiration to other organizations. The project has also made a publication The Analysis of the needs and proposals of pre-school education of socially disadvantaged children for the town Chrudim, which aim is to offer measures to improve the inclusion of these children into the mainstream education. We have prepared a document for parents – The Information on pre-school education in the town Chrudim, where parents can find the information about nursery and primary schools and pre-school clubs in the town. Thanks to the attendance of Pre-school Club Amálka and tutoring children from elementary school, we helped socially disadvantaged children to increase their chances of future school success and a full-fledged application in the future. For all supported children there was a significant shift in the development of their abilities and skills.
