Description

The main project goal is to strengthen the business of Roma music artists in the Czech Republic in the music and cultural industry by 31 March 2024. The secondary objectives are

  •  to raise awareness in society about Romani musical culture, Romani musical artists and important cultural events with Romani participation,
  • to alleviate the social exclusion of the Roma through their increased involvement in the music and cultural industry,
  • in cooperation with the Norwegian partner to test in practice the reach of cultural activities as a connecting element between the Roma and the majority society in the Czech Republic,
  • to obtain feedback on the work of Roma music artists in the form of cooperation with music critics in the Czech Republic.

The innovation of the project consists in

  • the use of VR 3D technology 180 ° x 180 in the audiovisual music work,
  • the theme itself of the audiovisual music work promotes topics related to the Roma minority in the Czech Republic,
  • the connection of live performances and audiovisual music works.

The main activities are

  • New Music Audiovisual Work - Culture Break Borders,
  • Ostrava 2023 Festival,
  • Education and
  • Critique of Audiovisual Works.

The outputs of the activities are course, video clip, festival, incubator, accelerator, criticism, discussion.

The primary target groups of the project will be

  • 15 musical subjects from the ranks of Roma musicians,
  • 15 beginning Roma music artists and 5 advanced Roma music artists,
  • 100 participants in the Culture Break Borders seminar,
  • 7,500 spectators of the Ostrava 2023 festival and
  • 4 critics in the field of contemporary art and music.

Secondary groups will be

  • the general public in the Czech Republic and abroad,
  • professional cultural community,
  • Roma music and non-music artists and
  • experts in the field of Roma inclusion.

The project has 2 partners from the Czech Republic and 1 partner from Norway. 

Summary of project results

Project was aimed at supporting beginning and semi-professional Roma music artists. Aim was to increase their media visibility on domestic and international music scene. This goal was achieved through seminar on cultural experiences in field of inclusion in Norway, festival, seminar focused on technical field and cultural management, production of videoclips, critique and discussion, media promotion on Internet and in press. Roma artists have thus gained greater insight into cultural sphere.

Project focused on professionalizing the professional and managerial services of applicant''s representatives and 15 Roma music artists. We focused on developing and strengthening skills in areas such as management, leadership, including implementation of 2 seminars, music festival and production of videoclips. In first seminar, Norwegian trainers shared their experiences in culture of inclusion in Norway. This seminar was followed by implementation of second seminar with online participation of Norwegian lecturer, which included workshop on music management on international level. Seminars trained participants on how to improve their skills in cultural management, especially in areas of PR, advertising, finance, promotion and organizing cultural events, and in technical areas of basic sound, lighting, video and audio skills. Another output of project was the production of video clips and summary trailers.

Aim of project was to strengthen entrepreneurship of Roma music artists in the Czech Republic. Media visibility and professionalization on domestic and international music scene was achieved. Target groups were 15 participants from Roma music community. We also established international cooperation with Norwegian partner in field of music and transferred international experience. Applicant tried to combine its experience in cultural and technical management with inexperienced Roma music artists.

Summary of bilateral results

We have established international cooperation with our Norwegian partner Kultur Bryter Grenser in the field of music and the transfer of international experience, especially during his personal visit to the seminar in Ostrava and Přerov and the Romani music festival in Nový Jičín.We have used the partner''s experience to establish contacts and transfer experience in participating in international festivals, to establish cooperation in the use of cultural activities in the inclusion of Roma in the Czech Republic, to use the natural musical talent of Roma with a view to increasing employment of Roma in the creative economy. The Norwegian partner informed about its activities in the artistic environment in Norway, about the price ranges for organizing cultural events and the artists'' fees in Norway. We also discussed the participation of performers in some suitable cultural events. The topic of financial support for cultural events in Norway was also an integral part of the cooperation.
