The project proposal "Revitalized spaces in the world cultural value Nessebar Old Town - Ethnographic Museum" provides for revitalization of spaces in the Ethnographic Museum in Old Nessebar, which is housed in the house of Moskoyani - typical architecture of the Black Sea from the late Renaissance and the creation of a permanent exhibition through innovative means, thus aiming to meet the need to improve the presentation of cultural heritage and promote cultural entrepreneurship in Nessebar - the only Bulgarian city under the protection of UNESCO as part of the world cultural heritage. Within the project will be carried out current repairs of the building - restoration and repair of doors and windows, repair of roof, floors, walls, installations, in order to make a quality improvement in the exhibition spaces of the museum and expand them by renovating previously unused premises allowing the development of additional services and cultural products. At the same time, specialized equipment and other elements will be delivered, which contributes to the development and attraction of new audiences - introduction of interactive activities, providing greater visibility, two-way interaction between the visitor and the museum through audio, video, virtual reality and other ways. After the revitalization of the museum spaces, a permanent ethnographic exposition will be created and exhibited in a new way, which through the introduced innovative technologies will attract a new and diverse audience. In addition to the two main activities listed, the project also provides for thematic training for management and expert staff of the beneficiary in the field of cultural heritage, creation of two permanent jobs for at least the project period, development of an entrepreneurial plan for future development of the museum, ensuring the necessary publicity and visualization of the project, as well as ensuring project management.
Summary of project results
The town of Nessebar is the only Bulgarian town under the protection of UNESCO as part of the world cultural heritage. The project envisages revitalization of spaces in the Ethnographic Museum in Old Nessebar, which is housed in the Moskoyani house from the late period of the Bulgarian National Revival, creation of a permanent exhibition through innovative means. The activities include ongoing renovation of the building. After revitalization of the museum spaces, a permanent ethnographic exhibition will be created and exhibited in a new way, which will attract a new and diverse audience through the introduced innovative technologies.
The project activities include restoration and repair of doors and windows, repair of roof, floors, walls and installations, with the aim of revitalizing the exhibition spaces and expanding them by renovating previously unused premises, allowing the development of additional services and cultural products. At the same time, it also envisages the purchase of specialized equipment and other elements that will contribute to the development and attraction of new audiences by introducing interactive activities and two-way interaction between the visitor and the museum exhibit through audio, video, virtual reality and other means. In addition, it is planned to conduct thematic training for the beneficiary''s management and expert staff in the field of cultural heritage and develop an entrepreneurial plan for the future development of the museum.
The project revitalized the Moskoyani House, which houses the Ethnographic Museum at the Museum of Ancient Nessebar, introducing new technologies for presenting cultural heritage, organizing a new permanent ethnographic exhibition, creating two new jobs in connection with the implementation of the project, preparing and implementing an entrepreneurial plan for the Ethnographic Museum - Nessebar, conducting thematic training for the beneficiary''s management and expert staff in the field of cultural heritage, and training 10 employees. In conclusion, a scientific and practical conference entitled "Museology of the 21st Century" was held, at which the results of the project were presented and the challenges facing museum work, placing the new museology in a broader context, and using cultural heritage as a catalyst for local development were discussed. Representatives of the scientific community in the region, as well as a school and student audience, participated in the conference. The conference ended with demonstrations and practical activities in the completely renovated Ethnographic Museum - Nessebar.
