Description

Project ‘RESLIPEN - Success Through Education For Roma Children’ tackles the problem of early leaves of the education process that appears amongst Roma children. Problem is a part of the wide structural inequality that reflects in the education results of socially excluded Roma children in the South Moravian Region and the Czech Republic. The problem leads to a low level of education in the Romas and their indecent application in society. The project aims strengthen the inclusion of the Roma minority through education, thus achieving their greater emancipation and reducing the risks associated with social exclusion. Increasing success and achieving a higher level of education is a prerequisite for the target group’s future economic self-sufficiency. This also has the potential of enhancing opportunities in their future careers or in a process of finding housing. The project will support more than 180 children and their parents in enhancing their motivation, knowledge and competencies needed for reaching success in education. Support will focus on the transition from one level of education to another.

We will achieve the project’s goals through these activities: 1. Cooperation of families and schools in the field of preschool, primary and secondary education, 2. Increasing competencies of the professional pedagogical and non-pedagogical staff in the field of inclusion of Roma children, pupils and students, 3. Carrying out activities that allow Roma children to develop their personality, through regular involvement in leisure activities, 4. Removing barriers in teaching and preventing school failure, 5. Carrying out extracurricular holiday activities.

The project’s main three target groups are Roma children, pupils and students, their parents, and pedagogical/non-pedagogical staff. The project is implemented by the NGO IQ Roma servis, in partnership with the NGO The Association of Romanies in Moravia and J. A. Komenský Elementary School and Kindergarten Brno.
