Description
This project proposal presents a comprehensive vision for organizing an International choir festival "The Boys are Singing." It is being developed by the Sofia Boys Choir and the Reykjavik Boys’ Choir. The project aims to promote boys'' choir singing, bringing together European choirs in one place and creating lasting cooperation with international partners. The project will take place on the territory of the Republic of Bulgaria and the Republic of Iceland. The project activities cover all stages of the preparation and holding of three editions of the festival, as well as project management and publicity and visualization activities. If the project is successful, 3 editions of the festival will be organized and held; concerts will be performed in Bulgaria and Iceland - in outlying urban areas and small towns. This will improve access to specific choral music of suburban people and create new audiences. Target groups of the project are artists in the field of music, young people, entrepreneurs in the field of culture, who are essentially the final beneficiary. In the implementation of the project a contemporary approach will be applied to the presentation of musical works, including enhanced contact with the public through live performances as well as accessibility of musical works fostered by social media and globally recognized audio and video file sharing platforms. The project will focus on the acquisition of new audiences and the collaboration between the choirs through the planned workshops and joint performances.

During the implementation of the project, the project promoter improved its capacity of attracting the public and exchange of knowledge through cultural cooperation at international level between the Sofia Boys'' Choir, the Reykjavík Boys'' Choir and the rest of the festival participants - which guarantees maximum use on the potential that art and culture offer for greater social inclusion. The purpose of holding the festival both locally and regionally was to expand the scope of cultural activities in smaller towns, as well as in peripheral areas in larger cities, where there is still a lack of a sufficient number of cultural events, initiatives and projects. The project has contributed to creating equal access to culture for citizens from different social groups and has supported their inclusion in cultural processes.
