OBJECTIVE:

Development of cultural collaboration between artists and participants of cultural life of Polish Theatre in Wroclaw and COMPANY B. VALIENTE from Oslo, which will translate into strengthening bilateral relations between Polish cultural institutions and cultural institutions from Norway.

OPERATIONAL GOALS:

  • strengthen competences of the theatre employees through work in an international environment with the participation of amateurs and using innovative solutions in the field of realization of theatrical performances;
  • audience development through multidimensional dialogue engaging persons excluded from cultural participation due to language or cultural barriers.

EVENTS:

  • staging two shows on the basis of a single script based on Luigi Pirandello''s drama "As it seems to you". The show in Wroclaw will be performed in Polish, while in Oslo - in Norwegian;
  • casting calls and workshops for minorities;
  • debate on emigration in Europe;
  • educational and popularizing series on the European history of migration and emergence of new communities (lectures, educational workshops, reportage and documentary projects, shows related to the topic of relations with minorities);
  • publication summarizing the project in three languages (Polish, Norwegian, English).

Summary of project results

The aim of the project is to develop cultural cooperation between creators and participants of cultural life of the Polish Theater in Wrocław and the COMPANY B. VALIENTE theater from Oslo, which resulted in strengthening bilateral relations between Polish cultural institutions and cultural institutions from Norway.

The main effect of the activities undertaken in cooperation were two theater premieres - the first in Poland, the second in Norway. The author of the scripts for both performances is Gian Luca Iumiento. Scenario of bothperformances are based on the same ideological and artistic concept, but both productions were created independently of each other. The Polish premiere was directed by the author of the script - GianLuca Iumiento, and the Norwegian premiere was directed by Marcellino Valiente. The starting material for the scenarios was social surveys and expert knowledge of non-governmental organizations dealing with the problems of the mentioned minorities.The cast of the performances included professional actors from Poland and Norway, as well as members of the Ukrainian minority in Poland and the Polish minority in Norway, selected in a casting. The premieres were additionally accompanied by the following events:- castings and workshops for minorities- debate on emigration in Europe- educational and popularization series on the European history of migration and the emergence of new communities (lectures, workshopseducational, reportage and documentary projects, performances referring to the topic of minority relations)- publication summarizing the project in three languages ​​(Polish, Norwegian, English).

The result of the project are two performances created by the Polish Theater in Wrocław and the COMPANY B. VALIENTE Theater in Oslo, based on one script based on the motifs of Luigi Pirandello''s drama "It is as it seems." The project also included study visits aimed at getting to know the creators from both institutions involved in the project and getting to know the theater team, which allowed for the selection of actors for particular roles. Both performances were connected by the screenwriter, who was also the director of the Polish production. The Norwegian play was directed by Marcellino Valiente.

Summary of bilateral results

The durability of the partnership is guaranteed by the extensive experience of the Applicant and the Partner in producing performances. Both entities are theaters with experience in international productions and staging performances outside their borders. Both employ artists, directors and scriptwriters from different countries, which ensures that both entities are prepared to implement an international project and guarantees its success. The success of the project will translate into further cooperation and durability of the established partnership, which may result in further joint implementations in the future.
