Description
Climate change is the defining crisis of our time and it is happening even more quickly than we feared. In Slovakia today, climate change increases flood and drought frequency, duration and severity, and this affects agriculture, biodiversity, forestry, energy production, tourism, and more general the availability of water resources.
As such, this project aims to exchange bilateral knowledge, experiences, and best practices in an effort to raise awareness and literacy on climate change and its impacts in Slovakia. Practical hard measures for climate change adaptation: min. of 500 cubic meters of rainwater collected, 3 rainwater containers, 1 set of green infrastructure elements for biodiversity support and climate-friendly mobility (green roof on bike station, building homes and watering places for insect, small mammals, birds and lizards, planting biodiversity meadows and flourishing native plants).
Main activities:
- Installation of rain water collection lake in Bioclimatic park;
- Installation of photovoltaic panels and necessary equipment;
- Training for Slovak project teams will be provided by Norwegian partners to ensure the most effective awareness
- Organisation of webinars on effective, wise and clean heating using local renewable energy sources within mitigation awareness campaign;
- Installation of green roof bike station including
- Organisation of information events within awareness campaign "Climafest
Partnership: The project will be realised with strong bilateral partnership and cooperation aiming at the necessity of climate change action in multiple sectors, including education, training and public awareness. The project partnership is built on cooperation of Slovak non-governmental and governmental organization and 2 Norwegian organisations.
