Description

Our privacy, at home, is the most valuable thing we have. Today, we are online and searchable in shocking proportions and possible consequences. The topic of privacy is even more pressing during Covid 19 than it was two years ago, when Slovakia woke up to a shocking news about the murder of a young journalist and his fiancée. The motivation for the public debate about the privacy of people at home is therefore also the enduring legacy that this huge tragedy carries (for us at home and also internationally). In a world where our privacy, data and psychology are becoming an increasingly vulnerable target of third-party interest, the project is conceived as accessible information to the public. In the form of discussions and online videos, it will focus on what our privacy is today, how we are legally aware of it in the context of two totalitarians, and who is the most vulnerable. What does our phone and wifi do? Why is privacy key to democracy? The lectures will be streamed online for the general public. One of the steps that the project plans to take to strengthen a wide range of people is to stimulate a lively and active discussion, from which practical information and ideas can be drawn. Publicly available conversations such as streaming on Fb, video clips in collaboration with actor Robert Roth, Living Memory, Chilli.today (confirmation of collaboration) and online sharing via the pages Little Cynicism, Stop ĽSNS and Super feeling. 3 video lectures on the topic of privacy will always have one of the key topics, pre-processed in the text and asked in the form of questions to guests. 20 to 50 visitors will be invited and the lectures will also have a possible zoom format. The specific institution and the names of the experts will be specified according to the current (pandemic) situation and communicated in advance by the ACF. The project will be benefitial for the whole society in Slovakia, including children and youth or seniors, too.

Summary of project results

The Privacy and its Protection project started in 2021 thanks to the support of the ACF - Slovakia program, generous support from Canada, the production-author contribution and the trust of the community of more than 30 experts in the field of media law, human rights, philosophy, political science, art, media and film.

In the context of 3 media outputs, texts and online communication, it was about creating a film format. This will subsequently be continued. The outputs are comprehensive communication outputs and a campaign to raise awareness of our totalitarian past, the right to privacy and who is most vulnerable today, both in reality and online and technologically. Privacy is a topic that has global implications. Therefore, part of the project (introductory video) was subtitled in English, and the plan is to expand the project to an international level.

The project started the preparation of a documentary film about our privacy in the context of the modern, technological world looking back to the totalitarian past of Slovakia. The most significant outputs were 3 discussions on the topic of privacy, video outputs and campaign, also the first shots of the film.

Although the campaign resonated less in traditional media, the target groups measured in indicators exceeded the originally projected numbers.

The project of 3 lectures and videos, published essay texts about the privacy of Slovaks, is a thoughtful follow-up to the project Salto Mortale about coming to terms with the past and bonds of ŠtB in the privacy of one''s own family.
