Summary of project results

In the Šilalė district, due to the insufficient number of psychologists who can provide mental health treatment consultations, the main problem has emerged - the lack of help for residents experiencing mild symptoms of depression, anxiety, stress or insomnia. To solve this problem, it was sought to employ Welfare Consultants, whose purpose is to help residents.

The project allowed residents, who experiencing symptoms of depression, anxiety, tension or stress, to have more confidence and seek help from specialists. Employed welfare consultants, using their acquired knowledge and training, advised the applicants on their existing complaints.

The project was implemented in cooperation with five organizations: Public Health Office of Šilalė District Municipality, Employment Service under the Ministry of Social Security and Labor of the Republic of Lithuania, Cultural Center of Šilalė District Municipality, Aid Service of the Order of Malta and Sport School of Šilale. These organizations, in addition to their main activities, informed their service recipients about the services provided by welfare consultants, and also provided other relevant information.

Beneficiaries of the project are residents of Šilalė district municipality. During the implementation period of the project, two Welfare consultants completed their training, an office was installed, and equipment was purchased so that the consultants could provide services to residents. During the project implementation period, Welfare consultants provided 1494 consultations. Considering the achieved results, it can be said that a number of residents experiencing symptoms of anxiety, depression, stress, tension and self-doubt applied and used the services provided by the Welfare Consultants free of charge.

This project helped residents, who receive services, to open up and become more confident. Individuals, who seek Welfare consultants, have learned to manage their symptoms of stress, anxiety, and anger, making them happier and more open to society.
