Description
The main objective of the project is to reduce energy poverty through the electrification of 47 households by using energy produced from photovoltaic panels and ensuring normal living conditions for a number of 150 people. 44 households are located less than 2 km from the accessible electricity grid (mostly within 200 meters from the grid) and 3 households are located more than 2 km from the accessible electricity grid.
All households'' residents lack electricity, while they are also in a situation of poverty. As about 80% of the residents do not have ownership documents for the households or for the terrain on which they are built, it is impossible to sign electricity contracts with the Distribution System Operator. Most of the households have been built without proper documentation or approvals.
The households have been evaluated and established the consumption needs and the PV system will be able support uses such as TV, fridge, and washing machine. Most of the non-electrified households have been assessed from a structural point of view and Budila Commune intends to install the photovoltaic panels on the building roofs. However. the roofs resistance will be verified again when installing the photovoltaic panels. .The proposed project has no negative impact on the environment during construction and operation phases. Key activities include:
- Investment activities related to purchase and installations.
- Training of permanent residents.
- Project management by internal team.
- Publicity to ensure the visibility of the project.
Expected outcomes includes 150 persons benefitting from being connected to electricity solutions, CO2 emissions to reduce annually by 29 tonnes and 96MWh/year energy produced from renewable sources.
Summary of project results
The issues identified by the local authority, Budila Commune, are energy poverty and lack of electrification of many of the households in its administrative area. All targeted households residents lack electricity, while they are also in a situation of poverty (cannot afford to pay electricity bills). Many of the residents do not have ownership documents for the households or for the property on which they are built, making it impossible to sign electricity supply contracts with the Distribution System Operator. Many of the households have been build without proper documents or approvals.
The project reduced energy poverty through the additional electrification of 46 households by using photovoltaic panels (46 off-grid photovoltaic systems), ensuring better living conditions for 150 persons.
Outcomes:
- Number of persons benefitting from being connected to electricity solutions: 150 persons.
Outputs:
- Number of non-connected households provided with electricity solutions where the power source for the electrification is a renewable energy source (RES): 46 households;
- Number of households permanent residents trained on how to use the renewable energy sources: 46 permanent residents.
