Mobility in Higher Education
Summary of project results
The overall goal of the project was to carry out 10 mobilities:6 to Donor States and 4 to Poland.
4 mobilities were carried out:2 mobilities to Donor States and 2 mobilities from Donor States to Poland. The purpose of study visits and research consultations of 2 WUM employees at NTNU and 2 NTNU employees at WUM was to observe and discuss best practices in the field of modern methodology for teaching health sciences and medicine. The visits and consultations also aimed to strengthen partnerships for further cooperation in public health research. Discussions were also held on common areas of scientific interest, which enabled the purposeful implementation of research projects and joint applications for scientific grants.
4 mobilities were carried out:2 mobilities to Donor States and 2 mobilities from Donor States to Poland.
6 mobilities were not carried out:4 to Donor States and 2 to Poland. As part of the visit to the Donor''s country; at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU), 100% of mobility and planned goals were achieved. Similarly, during the visit of two guests from Donor States, NTNU in Poland achieved 100% of mobility and goals consistent with the agreement.
Goals 6 of the mobility were not achieved in the case of the second Partner from the Donor countries - the University of Oslo. The planned arrivals of 2 people from the Donor Country to Poland and departures of 4 people to the Donor Country did not take place due to the lack of contact with the head of the unit responsible for implementation.
The assumed objectives of the Project were halfway achieved because one of the two Partners did not participate in the Program due to organizational changes at the University of Oslo unit and lack of response to contact attempts regarding the implementation of the program.
Current research conducted by both parties and the possibility of preparing joint publications were discussed. The mobilities made it possible to observe modern teaching solutions used at the Partner Institution (PI)-NTNU, especially in the area of teaching health sciences and medicine, and discuss them with teachers who worked on the transformation of the curriculum into a modern one, adapted to the needs of Generation Z students. Visiting employees strengthened their competences in the field of modern teaching methodology in health sciences and medicine: they became familiar with planning, organizing and implementing classes using methods such as flipped classroom, project-based learning, cooperative learning, gamification, problem-based learning, design thinking, thinking -based learning, competency-based learning. These methods have been successfully used at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU), and in the face of the COVID19 pandemic, they have also been tested in online teaching. Such experiences increase the quality of teaching. Moreover, mobility allowed us to observe the solutions used in Norway at NTNU and in Poland at the Medical University of Warsaw at various levels, ranging from the legal solutions used (e.g. anti-discrimination policy, sexual harassment policy, health promotion policy, setting clear values) and organizational (employees/units/organizations involved in in the promotion and management of mental health and well-being) by observing a health-promoting social and physical environment (e.g. meetings of student groups, organizing a welcome week), discussing program content focusing on strengthening interpersonal and intrapersonal resources and promoting well-being, and discussing current research programs. Attention was also devoted to discussing solutions used to support foreign and minority students, including people with special educational needs, LGBTQIAP people, migrants and refugees.
During the visit of WUM employees to NTNU, there were 7 meetings with representatives of various NTNU faculties, 4 full-day workshops and a meeting with prof. Geir A. Espnes, mayor of the municipality of Oppdal and professor at NTNU. During the visit of NTNU employees to the MUWarsaw, the participants observed the events accompanying the inauguration of the Adaptation Days for students of the MUW, visited the MUW campus to become acquainted with the conditions enabling the use of specific teaching methods, took part in a training workshop devoted to modern teaching methods and in 3 meetings with employees of the Study Center Health Psychology.Mobility enabled the transfer of best practices in the field of modern methodology of teaching health sciences and medicine, the application of current scientific knowledge in currently developed teaching programs using a new approach at the MUW and the further development of programs at NTNU. Selected teaching methods observed and discussed at NTNU are already being implemented during medical psychology and medical communication courses for medical students of the MUW.Mobility broadened teaching experiences and strengthened cooperation between MUW and NTNU.Thanks to the exchanges, MUW and NTNU on two scientific articles regarding students'' mental health.
Summary of bilateral results
Cooperation with 1 of the 2 Partners was successful during the implementation of the project, 4 of the 10 planned mobilities were carried out in accordance with the contract. In the case of Partner 2, unfortunately, the involvement was not sufficient to complete the project in its entirety, the remaining 6 out of 10 mobilities were not implemented. The Medical University of Warsaw is in constant contact with the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) regarding the exchange of experiences. Contact with the partner took place via e-mail and using videoconferencing and online meetings. The cooperation went smoothly, which made it much easier and allowed the implementation of key activities and goals of the project. Further inter-university cooperation is planned. Currently, exchange participants from WUM and NTNU are jointly developing two scientific articles and submitting a jointly prepared abstract to the European Health Psychology Society conference with a proposal for a discussion panel. In the case of the second Partner of the University of Oslo, during the project implementation period, there was a change in the organizational structure and management of the University of Oslo unit responsible for mobility. The new manager was not interested in continuing the mobility despite attempts to contact him and arrange the details of the visits. 6 planned trips did not take place: 4 to the donor countries and 2 arrivals from the donor country. The Beneficiary tried to contact the new head of the unit of the University of Oslo in order to undergo mobility, but the Partner did not enter into negotiations regarding mobility under the previously signed contract (no response from the partnerCorrespondence regarding attempts to implement the program is attached as an attachment to the report.
