Description

Objective of the project is to develop and implement an educational programme for: „Social Entrepreneurship – a basic course” and create an innovative tool for mapping trends in the area of social innovations. The project will be realized in partnership of: SWPS University, Women’s Entrepreneurship Foundation, Stiftelsen Mangfold i Arbeidslivet. The educational programme will be based on scientific research, and the design thinking methodology will be used to design it. Joined experience of applicants will enable a creation of high quality educational programme that at the same time will provide a practical approach. The result of the project will be increasing competences in 7 thematic modules related to social entrepreneurship among participants of the course (40 students, entrepreneurs, social educators), increasing competences of staff (5 persons) as well as initiating a social entrepreneurship trends monitoring/research centre at the SWPS University. A complex approach to the developed topics and design thinking methodology guarantees a long-term positive impact of the project on applicants’ activity, participants and a wide range of people who will encounter the effects of the project and will be the beneficiaries of future social enterprises.

Summary of project results

The project''s task was to develop, test, and implement a curriculum to shape the competencies needed to initiate and run social enterprises. The project brought together the unique competencies of the partners and created tools to explore the needs for social innovation and its implementation.

The project developed 9 Intellectual Work Outcomes and:
- a study visit to Norway was carried out
- a pilot course was carried out using project materials
- 2 dissemination events were organized

As part of the results of intellectual work, within each of the 7 modules, an educational set was created for 4 hours of classes, consisting of:
- lecture content,
- a lecture script with development of the discussed issues for the trainer,
- a scenario for conducting a workshop in the form of a document divided into minutes,
- practice tools for listeners.
In addition, a career counseling (mentoring) program for social entrepreneurs was created:
As part of this result, a model of professional support (mentoring) for course beneficiaries was developed, which includes:
- manual for mentors/trainers,
- a work card/set of practical tools for developing skills with instructions.
Additionally, a tool "Map of development areas for social innovators - 2033 perspective" was created and tested during the course.

The result of the project is the curriculum ''Social Entrepreneurship - a basic course'', which has versatile applications - it can be used (in whole or in parts) in academic classes and in the work of NGOs that address social problems and in project work to create new services and products in commercial companies.
The project was enthusiastically received by the participants of the course (students, entrepreneurs, employees of NGOs, and local authorities) and by the participants of the promotional conference and other events where the project results were presented.
Through the implementation of the project, many new relations were established (e.g. with institutions whose representatives took part in the research, course, or conference), which will pay off with further initiatives and projects related to the topic of social entrepreneurship and the use of project results for designing and implementing social innovations.
A team of researchers has been formed at the Faculty of Management of the USWPS, which plans to research and didactically develop the path of social entrepreneurship. The establishment of a Social Innovation Research Centre (IS LAB) is planned. As a result of the project activities, 37 people participated in the testing of project materials and improved their competencies in social entrepreneurship. 5 social innovation projects were developed with the potential to become social enterprises. They were presented at the project''s closing conference. One of the developed innovations will be implemented in autumn 2023.

Summary of bilateral results

MiA representatives participated in project meetings (online and in face-to-face format) and in a dissemination event summarizing the implementation of the project. They were also involved at the stage of consulting and translating educational modules. Thanks to the materials collected by MiA concerning activities in the field of social entrepreneurship in Norway, the course was enriched with Norwegian case studies. The list of contacts operating in this area in Poland and Norway has also been expanded, which we treat as the beginning of long-term cooperation. In the context of the solutions used in the project, the exchange of experience between Norwegian educators and the Polish team turned out to be helpful.Additionally, the Norwegian Partner ensured that our project was mentioned in the MENON-economics report. The publication was commissioned by Virke, the Federation of Norwegian Enterprises. The report is promoted through several relevant networking activities with employers, public organizations at all levels, as well as NAV (Norwegian Administration for Employment and Welfare) and educational institutions. In addition, the material developed within the project will also be translated into Norwegian and used in the entrepreneurship program for refugees in Viken. Information about the program is already being disseminated at the regional level - Viken, as well as at the local level - Modum and nearby municipalities.

Information on the projects funded by the EEA and Norway Grants is provided by the Programme and Fund Operators in the Beneficiary States, who are responsible for the completeness and accuracy of this information.
