The project was focused on supporting families with children who are socially disadvantaged and are located in a such difficult situation, which does not enable parents to meet their educational, emotional and economic function of the family. The project offered support to parents in their efforts to improve the living situation. Our activity in the project was unique in that we focused on skills training and the abilities of parents to be able to provide educational, emotional and economic function of the family by themselves. An important part of the project was social work aimed at supporting of children with learning disabilities. This activity brought parents and children new skills in the educational process through training of implementation of the recommended educational practices of school preparing at home. Their aim was to familiarize families with special educational needs, to explain to parents what the issue is and to teach them how to handle it and gradually removed it. We produced: a) the methodology of work with children with special learning disabilities (SLD); b) a brochure How to tackle the learning disorders - practical advice and exercises. The brochure includes demonstration exercises, that parents and children can use for training without the presence of staff; c) documentary film To make family the home, which captures the living conditions of children from socially disadvantaged backgrounds and work with these children to improve school success. We taught parents how to use effective strategies in dealing with adverse life situations. We have changed the attitudes of children and parents to home-school preparation. We informed the teachers and students of social work about the living conditions of children and young people from socially disadvantaged families, that affect school success of children.
