Description

The main objective of this project was to develop the competences of Polish teachers of experimental science subjects and coordinators in the field of teaching and verification of students’ knowledge in accordance with the assumptions and philosophy of the International Baccalaureate (IB) program. This was achieved through organizing and conducting the intensive training on teaching experimental subjects based on the IB program.

The project activities included:

- Establishing and confirming the key assumptions, recruitment, conducting a training needs study among participants, preparing the final training program and materials, conducting training using appropriate methods and content to the thematic scope of the training, the specificity of participants and their level of knowledge of substantive issues, collecting feedback in the form of questionnaires, conducting an in-depth effectiveness study 1 month after the end of the training, disseminating the results and good practices in the field of transnational cooperation.

In terms of methodology, the training was conducted using the following formats: Lectures, Workshops and case studies, Discussions and exchange of opinions.
The project included Programme''s policy markers:

One of the attributes of an IB graduate is principled behaviour and a strong sense of justice. These moral values are also a guideline for teachers and educational institutions preparing and implementing the IB program, used both in the recruitment process and informing the public about the course of the project implementation and during the dissemination of its outcomes, including through making products publicly available and accessible.

The IB program’s implementation is associated with the above-average respect of the principle of non-discrimination and inclusion of vulnerable groups, therefore schools participating in the project took care of these values in practice at the stage of recruitment, implementation and dissemination.

The project was executed in accordance with the adopted presumptions. Before the training course was conducted:
- the date of the training course was precisely established,
- a partnership agreement was signed with a parter school in Norway (Lillestrøm videregående skole - LvS),
- recruitment regulations and documentation templates were adopted,
- participants were recruited and a ranking list was published (along with a reserve list of participants),
- needs-analysis survey was carried out among the training participants,
- the trainers’ flights and accommodation and all issues related to the training course organization were concluded (travel, accommodation, meals, training rooms, etc.)
- the training programme was refined, and the training materials (digital version) taking into account the results of the needs analysis had been prepared by the trainers,

Staszica in Lublin as supporting experts, the majority of the training were practical workshops and held as discussions and exchange of opinions during the concluding plenary session, as well as in the form of case studies conducted in subject groups (physics, biology, chemistry),
- certificates were handed to all training participants,
- two surveys evaluating the training were finalised: immediately after its completion and approx. 1-1.5 months after the
training course completion
- dissemination activities were carried out on an ongoing basis via the website and social media, a webinar with the participation of approx. 50 participants was additonally held virtually for all interested parties (IB teachers, coordinators and those interested in IB DP)
