4. Knowledge transfer activities with the project partner

4.1. Testing of industrial indoor luminaires at partner facilities

4.2. Preparation of test report

4.3. Development of recommendations for the improvement of new products and reduction of environmental impact.

Summary of project results

No significant challenges.

New generations of two existing “VIZULO” Ltd. LED luminaires (Model 2 and Model 3) were developed and introduced into production to reduce the CO2 emissions generated during production, shipping, and use after installation and utilization. One fully new LED luminaire (Model 1) with the same goal was also developed.

All three developed products feature innovative materials and designs which optimize lighting performance and reduce material consumption for the products and their packaging (which optimizes palletization and transport). The production process of the developed luminaires also features process automation that allows for the reduction of energy consumption related to lighting and heating when a fully automated line is working a night shift.

With the introduction of Model 1, Model 2 and Model 3 luminaires to the market, “VIZULO” Ltd. will be able to contribute to the reduction of CO2 emissions associated with LED lighting manufacture, transportation, use and utilization. The success of this project also means that “VIZULO” Ltd. will continue to develop more energy-efficient and sustainable solutions for the market using the equipment and knowledge acquired during the project.

During the project, an innovative optical material proved its efficiency in an LED luminaire. Additionally, we have designed a unique mechanical construction for each of the three new luminaires.

Main results achieved:

- 4 jobs created;

- CO2 emission reduced by 1295 tonnes/year

- energy savings 5245 MwH per year

- successful partnership

Summary of bilateral results

The partner of the project has contributed by providing testing facilities. Additionally, their technical expertise in CO2 emission reduction through innovative engineering solutions has proven very valuable. After the completion of the testing, we and the partner both received confirmation that the proposed and implemented solutions to reduce CO2 emissions were effective. This has given both sides a deeper understanding of effective strategies and we already have several other ideas that can be implemented to reduce CO2 emissions generated by our other LED luminaires. In the future, we would like to continue our collaboration with the partner as we see several potential areas where their knowledge and assistance could be helpful to us. Similarly, the partner also expressed a desire to be involved with us in potential future projects, as they would like to offer LED luminaires with reduced CO2 footprint together with their services when participating in procurements for new buildings.
