Description
The existing Czechnica CHP plant may operate on the basis of a district heating derogation until the end of 2022. The devices in it are worn out and will not be able to meet stricter requirements from the EU Commission Implementing Decision 2017/1442 of 31.07.2017 establishing the conclusions on the best available techniques or ensuring the continuity of heat supply for residents and institutions connected to the municipal heating network in Siechnice and Wrocław.
In order to secure the supply of heat and electricity to individual consumers, a new high-efficiency cogeneration unit fired with natural gas will be built, replacing the coal source. The new unit will include a gas and steam unit with an electric capacity of 155-180 MWe and approx. 160 MWt of heat capacity. In addition, the CHP plant will be equipped with a heat storage unit and a peak-load unit with an estimated capacity of approx. 150 MWt.
Project goals:
- new high-efficiency gas-fired cogeneration unit
- security of energy supply for individual consumers
- CO2 emission reduction: 622,005.90 t/year
- primary energy savings: 598,928.89 MWh/year
Project implementation beneficiaries: individual and institutional heat consumers in Siechnice and partly in Wrocław, as well as electricity consumers from the national electricity system will gain security of energy supply.
