Description

The project ”Outdoor in practice” aims for:
-increasing competences of the didactic team of teachers (5 teachers from Społeczna Szkoła Podstawowa z oddziałami dwujęzycznymi im. J. Kukuczki in Rybnik, for whom the applicant is the authotiry leader) in using all of the outdoor education tools in practice;
-development of the cooperation with the institution in the donor-country (development of the international cooperation on the level of the institution as well as the level of an individual participant);
-labouring the plan of outdoor education implementation in the parent school.
The project fulfills the needs:
-the development of the applicant’s school through the implementation of the new and inspiring didactic solutions;
-practical observation (outdoors) of the tools, that guarantees better implementation and elimination of the misunderstandings;
-growing demand of the outdoor methods, strongly intergrating the students and focusing on movement - as a consequence of Covid-19 there are disturbances in emtional, social and lack of movement spheres.
In the study visit 5 teachers of differencial working profiles are going to take part. Because of that a variety of specialisations will be ensured:
-a teacher of English (project coordinator at the place);
-a teacher of the maths and science subjects;
-a physical education teacher;-an early stage primary teacher;
-a coorganising the education teacher (teacher assistant to disabled or disfuntional students).
Long-term effects and advantages:-enhancement in competitiveness of the school throughout widening the school offer of outdoor education tools.

Summary of project results

The project had the following objectives: to increase the competence of the teaching staff of the J. Kukuczka Social Elementary School with bilingual departments in Rybnik in the practical application of didactic tools of field education, to expand cooperation with the Icelandic Host Institution (development of international cooperation both at the level of the institution and at the level of the individual participant), and to develop a plan for the implementation of field education in a Polish school. During the Study Visit held, a theoretical and training summary on field education tools was conducted, a series of field observations were carried out at an Icelandic elementary school, and a debriefing meeting was held (team discussion on conclusions and recommendations). Already after the visit, internal training of the staff in the framework of sharing good practices was implemented, and a plan for implementing field education tools into the school development strategy and work guidelines for the 2022/2023 school year was developed. The degree to which the goals of the study visit were achieved was examined by means of summary surveys. The participants of the visit were asked about the level of achievement of the above-mentioned goals in the form of a series of closed questions, as well as through an open-ended descriptive question. The data collected in this way was then accompanied by conclusions, recommendations, observations included in the report submitted to the school director, which testify to a very high level of satisfaction with the visit and at the same time to the full realization of the assumed objectives.

Summary of bilateral results

Cooperation with the Host Institution was exemplary. The closing meeting with the Host Institution was an opportunity for a very constructive exchange of observations and conclusions, as well as for discussions on possible further cooperation. Direct relations were established between the participants of the visit and representatives of the Host Institution. The realization of the visit had a very positive impact on the future activity of the Polish school by increasing the level of international cooperation (gaining new intercultural and content-related experience), increasing interest in the experience of foreign cooperation among the staff and openness to drawing on the good practices of donor countries; increasing the competence of direct participants and recipients of internal training, increasing the attractiveness of educational solutions applied at school, introducing (as the main effect of the visit) a methodical innovation in the 2022/2023 school year concerning outdoor activities.
