Death of a parent is an overwhelming change for the entire family, which often in this situation loses the ability to deal with the stressful life event and gets into financial hardship. This situation in reflected mostly on the negative emotional state of the child. The aim of the project is to support the healthy psycho-social development and the development of life skills of children and youth at risk and help them handle the difficult situations more easily through intervention, prevention and field activities. The project will provide regular intervention services in a natural family environment to 25 disadvantaged children and young people as well as 10 mothers. Concurrently the scope of the organization will be extended by the community of Lower Orava (10 children and young people, 5 mothers). 2 employees will be trained and 3 professional seminars will be organized on order to improve the quality of services. 15 volunteers and local government representatives will be involved in the project. There is 20% of Roma children and young people in the target group that that will benefit from the project.
Summary of project results

This situation is mostly reflected in the negative emotional state of the child. Since providing aid and support to this specific target group is a basic pillar of the organisation’s work, its activities will continue after the project is over. The objective of the project was to support healthy psychosocial development and development of life skills of children and youth at risk, and help them handle difficult situations more easily through intervention, prevention and field activities. Self-help groups will work long term in incomplete families, where mothers with older children will help mothers with younger children. They will advise each other and look for solutions in various problematic life situations. The outcome of the project In natural family environments, the project provided regular intervention services to disadvantaged children and youth as well as their mothers. Concurrently, the scope of the organization’s work was extended to the community of the Lower Orava region. The planned outcome was fully met. Main outputs: 30 disadvantaged children/young people and 10 mothers involved in the project; 1 new community; 50 hours of training for 2 employees of the organisation; 3 educational seminars Beneficiaries were involved mainly through their active participation in activities organised for children and youth, as well as in education, community, and support activities for mothers – widows.
