Description

The system for prevention of abuse and support for victims of abuse in the Skawina municipality is not sufficiently effective. The measures taken are not properly coordinated, and classes and materials on prevention are not suited to the needs of the addressees. The system does not cover people who have not enrolled in the Blue Card (Niebieska Karta) procedure. The project entails measures to form a partnership of local institutions and organizations to combat violence and provide support for violence victims. Under the project, a series of workshops will be conducted for professionals. Workshops on prevention will be conducted for children and young people, and there will be workshops for parents and women who are subjected to violence. The workshops will develop the skills needed to cope with and counter violence, and consultations will also be held on the system of support for groups at risk of violence and discrimination in the Skawina Municipality. The results of the consultations will lead to proposals for modification of the municipal Social Problem Strategy (Strategia Rozwiązywania Problemów Społecznych) and the Domestic Violence Prevention and Domestic Violence Victim Protection Scheme (Program Przeciwdziałania Przemocy w Rodzinie oraz Ochrony Ofiar Przemocy w Rodzinie). The project will also entail a local social campaign showing violence mechanisms and the system of support for violence victims. The project will make the system for prevention of violennce and support for victims of violence more effective, primarily for children and women in the Skawina Municipality. The project will help to increase awareness among the community in the Skawina Municipality of the problem of abuse and how to cope with it. A major effect will be a handbook (bridge map - mapa mostów) containing information about the forms of support available in the Skawina Municipality. The Bridge Map will include the solutions developed in the project.

Summary of project results

The system of violence prevention and support for people experiencing violence in the Skawina municipality is not effective enough and does not respond to the needs of its residents. The problem is mainly due to systemic underlying assumptions, such as fragmented impact, insufficient funding, lack of overall coordination of activities and traditional methods of preventive work. The measures taken are mainly focused on supporting families subject to the Blue Card procedure, while the offer of assistance to those who are before the procedure or who choose not to use the procedure is very small. There is also a growing demand in the municipality for preventive measures aimed at children and adolescents.

The Project Promoter undertook activities for the partnership of local institutions and organizations of the system for counteracting violence and supporting people experiencing violence. As part of the project, a series of workshops on recognizing violence, coping with violence and responding to violence were conducted for various groups: professionals (called Walls of Silence), for children and adolescents (Labyrinth of Emotions), for parents (Bridges of Closeness) and for women experiencing violence (Road to Change). Public consultations were also held on the support system for groups exposed to violence and discrimination in the municipality. Based on the results of the consultations, proposals for changes to the municipal Strategy for Solving Social Problems, the Program for Prevention of Violence in the Family and Protection of Victims of Family Violence were prepared. The Project Promoter also conducted a local campaign #mostyzammurów showing the mechanisms of violence and promoting the support system for people experiencing violence. An element of the project also included efforts to establish a Social Services Center in the Skawina.

Thanks to the project, the local anti-violence system in Skawina Municipality was strengthened. A partnership of local institutions and organizations was built, and people working in them developed their competencies. The awareness of male and female residents about the phenomenon of violence and ways to deal with it has increased. 131 people took part in the workshops alone. A measurable and long-term effect of the project is the establishment of a Social Services Center , where in the so-called one-stop shop one can get information about available forms of support in the Skawina municipality.
