Description
The project envisages the implementation of the energy saving measures prescribed in the prepared energy audit. efficiency of street lighting on 4 streets in City of Kotel: Vassil Levski Street, Rakovska Street, Kiril and Metodii Street and Stara Planina str. According to the regulation, the following measures are envisaged: 1. Replacement of luminaires: A complete replacement of all luminaires with modern LEDs with reduced power losses is proposed. Using them will guarantee very accurate achievement of the set lighting characteristics with significantly less electricity consumed. 2. Introduction of an energy management and renewable energy system The development of smart street lighting is related to the deployment of Internet of Things technologies in the urban environment. This helps to improve the quality of life of the population, optimize costs and provide additional services through the associated lighting infrastructure. Internet of Things-connected systems allow you to adjust the amount of light according to atmospheric conditions, for example, or on a pre-set schedule for each day of the year. One of the most important benefits of this intelligent connectivity is the ability to increase security in the city by tailoring lighting to different emergencies such as road accidents. 3. Establishment of a system for monitoring energy consumption Remote sensing meters will be included in the system, allowing direct access to real-time reading of the energy consumed. 4. Establishment of a system for automation and management of energy consumption 5. Construction of a photovoltaic system to cover their own needs -Delivery and installation of standalone photovoltaic lamps. After the implementation of the system the following improvements will be achieved: • Reduction of purchased energy from an external supplier; • Utilization of energy from a renewable energy source; • Ensuring energy independence; • High level of energy efficiency.
Summary of project results
The problems that are intended to be solved with the implementation of the project are: to increase the energy efficiency of street lighting in the territory of the city of Kotel; to reduce greenhouse gas emissions; to reduce the municipality''s electricity costs; to improve the quality of street lighting and increase the percentage of illumination; to improve road safety for drivers and pedestrians at night; to increase the production of energy from renewable sources; to increase the expert capacity of the municipality''s employees in the field of renewable energy, energy efficiency and energy management. In addition to reducing direct electricity costs after the implementation of the project activities of the measures, financial savings are also expected from reducing the annual costs of operation and maintenance of the outdoor artificial lighting system. These savings are due to the elimination of the need to replace lamps and the significantly less frequent replacement of lighting fixtures, including labor and material costs.
556 lighting fixtures with 40W IP66 LEDs were delivered and installed, 439 consoles/slingshots 0.5 m and 119 consoles/slingshots 1.5 m were delivered and installed, 910 m of stainless steel strip 16/0.4 mm, 2507 m of SVT cable 3x1.5 sq.mm, 878 pcs. bimetallic or diverter terminals were installed, 74 pcs. street lighting fixtures-40W, a set with an external solar module 100 Wp, a console 0.5 m, a battery and a charge controller were installed, while complying with the rules for BZ. An automated street lighting control and monitoring system has been installed and equipment has been connected to the control system in existing street lighting panels (controller, clock with remote reading, GPRS communication module). The street lighting is switched on and off automatically, using electronic clocks installed in the street lighting control panels. The control part of the automated street lighting control and monitoring system provides: remote control and management of street lighting, using two-way data transfer, management of an unlimited number of addresses, remote control and management of street lighting, individual management of each street panel. Street lighting is controlled according to a schedule set by the operator or according to individual single commands, the system has no limit on the number of on-off cycles within one schedule per day, it is possible to create recurring schedules for a certain period of time or create separate schedules for each calendar date. The system has the ability for emergency autonomous control by commands, such as a perpetual calendar, from an autonomous clock and autonomous memory built into the controller. For servicing and maintenance purposes, the system allows direct sending of commands to individual executive devices. The system supports monitoring and visualization of information for individual controllers (street panels).
Increased energy efficiency of street lighting, leading to a reduction in the municipality''s electricity consumption and costs, improved living conditions for the population, safe vehicle traffic and pedestrian safety at night.
Summary of bilateral results
Improved bilateral cooperation with interested stakeholders in the field of energy efficiency to present good practices and future development of the city and the municipality in this regard.
