Description

The Mocioni Mansion in Foeni is a historical monument of national and universal importance, of great architectural and symbolic value. The problems and challenges that the project will solve or diminish are: the lack of a cultural offer; reduced cultural capitalization; lack of tourist facilities; reduced tourist attractiveness of the county rural settlements; loss of identity and heritage; reduced attractiveness of after school activities, non-formal and intercultural education; lack of spaces to support creativity and artistic productions. Target groups: 1)150 community members and students; 350-500 students from the community and county, aged 5-19; 14 artists/creatives, for residences; 8 artists/creatives, for training camp and so on; 200-700 visitors. 2)The final beneficiaries will exceed 700,000 people, from the community, micro-region and county, from Timisoara and Reykjavik. The target groups need a space for cultural manifestation, sources of income and elements for coagulating the collective identity. The general objective: Economic, social and cultural development of Timis county by highlighting the Mocioni Mansion in Foeni, a historical monument of national and universal value. Specific objective 1: Rehabilitation and rehabilitation of the Mocioni Mansion in Foeni commune, Timis county; Specific objective 2: Development of an attractive and unique cultural offer in Timis county by highlighting a historical monument located in a marginalized rural environment. Indirect results (outcomes): Improvement of cultural heritage management; Strengthening collaboration between entities in Romania and those in the Donor States (Norway, Iceland, Liechtenstein) in the cultural field. Outputs: Restoration and revitalization of historical monuments; Supporting international cultural cooperation in the field of cultural heritage. 

Summary of project results

The main needs taken into account by the project Rehabilitation and Refunctionalization of the Mocioni Mansion in Foeni commune, Timiș county, were: lack of a cultural offer, reduced exploitation of heritage, lack of tourist facilities, reduced tourist attractiveness of the county''s rural environment, loss of identity and heritage, reduced attractiveness of extracurricular activities, non-formal and intercultural education, lack of spaces to support creativity and artistic productions.

Through the rehabilitation and repurposing activities of the historical monument - the Mocioni Mansion in Foeni, Timiș county, emphasis was placed both on the intercultural educational and cultural heritage aspects, as well as on cultural activities that remind visitors (tourists and residents) of the cultural life of the Mocioni family through activities with complex character: establishment of the "Friends of the Mocioni Mansion" action and support group, awareness and information campaign, study visits, training camp for young artists and professionals, interdisciplinary street art and landscaping residency, visual art residency, Banat frustuck exhibition, intercultural education activities, heritage education activities, Mocioni Mansion DayThe project thus contributes to the development of an attractive and unique cultural offer in Timiș county by highlighting a historical monument located in a marginalized rural environment and leads to an increased awareness of the community regarding entrepreneurial opportunities.

The project achieved significant results for both local communities and cultural professionals. It created 4.51 new jobs and doubled the annual number of visitors and participants in cultural activities, reaching a total of 1,268. One historical monument building was restored and brought back into cultural and economic use, supported by the implementation of a dedicated heritage valorization plan. The project also contributed to capacity building, with eight professionals developing new skills and expertise in their respective fields. Furthermore, it fostered international cooperation by implementing a joint project with a partner from a Donor State in the field of cultural heritage.

Summary of bilateral results

The project was implemented in partnership with NORTH Consulting ehf from Iceland, which conducted study visits and exhibitions by Romanian and Icelandic artists contributed to conveying an eclectic message representative of both countries in transmitting the artistic vision of the mansion.
