Description
The objective of this project is revitalization and restoration of a Cultural Monument - the Manor House of Draškovič, which is situated in Čachtice village. The Manor House of Draškovič in Čachtice is a historical building, dating back to the 17th century based on an architectural and historical research. Together with the Church, it is the oldest part of the village. The reconstruction of the manor house, to be financed from this project, will be primarily focused on the rehabilitation of the building in an emergency state. All construction failures will be eliminated so as to prevent a dramatic deterioration of the construction and technical condition of the building over the next few years. At the same time, the applicant will also carry out the second part of the building’s reconstruction, which will allow a comprehensive renovation of the manor house so that new functions are enabled. The manor house will serve not only as a place of presentation of history (museum) but also as a place of providing services at the level of the 21st century. In the newly reconstructed premises of the manor house, visitors will be given the opportunity to relax and refresh in the newly established café and be able to use the services of the tourist - information centre. The conditions for creating new expositions, establishing a cultural and creative centre, organizing cultural and educational activities in cooperation with the project partner will be created and extended.
Summary of project results
The aim of the project was a complex restoration of the Manor House of Draškovič in Čachtice with the purpose of providing new functions into the monument situated in a place with a significant year-on-year increase in the number of visitors.
The project was needed in terms of preserving and maintaining the national cultural monument in order to prevent greater damage and deterioration of this monument. The aim of the project also to attract new groups of visitors, to create an environment for developing new educational programmes and activities with the aim to promote and increase awareness about local and regional history for all age groups.
The restoration of the national cultural monument significantly contributed to the preservation of tangible cultural heritage. It addressed insensitive modern interventions and brought the Manor House as close as possible to its historical appearance. Additionally, premises that had long been inaccessible and underutilized were made accessible to visitors. A caffeteria was established, which will broaden the range of services offered. The new exhibitions and renovated spaces provide an environment for numerous new activities and programs, which were held even during the project''s implementation and were not part of the original program for visitors. During the project, communication activities took place, as well as museum-educational activities (such as winemaking and its traditions, ceramics courses and creative workshops for the public) and special activities (lectures and discussions) focused on the Roma and Jewish and other minorities in our society and on extremist manifestations against them. The interactivity of the new exhibitions is an important part of presenting cultural heritage, attracting the interest and curiosity of visitors of all ages, particularly targeting children and young adults who are accustomed to interfacing with all aspects of life in the digital space. The project also created a space for occasional use for representative purposes, cultural, and social events.
One of the project results, the most important for the promoter is a restored national cultural monument, the protection of cultural and heritage values, and the establishment of conditions for the development of cultural services and local tourism. For the Museum of Trenčín as the project partner, the main result of the project is the creation of new premises and activities, which are generating employment opportunities, increased number of visitors, and fostered the development of new programs and activities for visitors. An important aspect is also the reconstruction of the café, which has created opportunities to support local business and generate additional jobs in the town. Finally, the project has had an impact on the general public by providing increased opportunities for cultural engagement, personal informal education, supporting local tourism, and creating economic opportunities for the residents of the village and surrounding areas.
