Description

Romanian social landscape is still defined by lack of cohesion and involvement of citizens in public life, in solving problems of their own communities, and lack of interest for the problems which are outside the boundaries of their private life & space. The project will initiate and develop a interdisciplinary cultural platform that will encourage and support new perspectives and visions, across sectors, on methods about how living the present is shaping the future. Using art as a way to address and put into the light relevant contemporary issues, the project aims to support the formation of a new generation, actively participating in the society. The purpose of the project is to develop and promote critical thinking and interdisciplinary skills among youth. We are proposing the development of an unitary art project directed towards young generation and opening the art towards a new type of audience. The project will promote and develop visual arts field as a way of expression and a debate platform for the issues of the contemporary society from a global perspective, but with local application and impact. We will translate them into a visual language accessible to a wide and diverse audience, aiming to draw attention about plastic pollution problem and to empower the public to be an active participant in solving it. Project is designed for young generation (participant with ages between 10 and 17 y.o.) from six cities, but also for their parents, their teachers, members of local communities and audience from exhibitions. Activities of the project will take place in Bucharest, and in 6 small cities where the cultural offer is limited: Slobozia, Alexandria, Turnu Măgurele, Urziceni, Oltenița, Mizil. The Norwegian partner will have a representative present at the pre-production workshop, will be involved in developing training kit on stop motion animation and in the activities of urban camp and will be in charge of post-production process for 6 short movies.

Summary of project results

Through the project, 6 series of illustration and comic strip and storytelling workshops dedicated to young people between the ages of 10 and 17 were organized in 6 cities in Romania. Following the workshops, the results reached in each city were displayed in public exhibitions. Among the workshop participants, 13 children were selected to participate in a creative camp, organized with the guidance and participation of the Norwegian partner. The creative camp resulted in the creation of 12 animation films. Another project result was the development of a digital platform - www.plasticzero.ro.

Summary of bilateral results

The Donor project partner coordinated the creative camp and the animation workshops. At the same time, the representative of the dpp attended the project closing conference, where he shared his experience related to project implementation through a video material.
