Programme:

Description

The project includes creating and performing of a new multidisciplinary theatre piece that will raise questions associated with the theme of “home”. Thanks to partnership with a Norwegian art group and involvement of Czech artists from various social and national environments, the project will investigate and compare diverse views of the notion of “home” including its perception in Central Europe (Prague) and the Arctic region of Norway (Tromso).

The project will increase the awareness of significance of the explored notion of “home” in both active and passive participants.

In addition, the project will reflect, by means of multidisciplinary theatre, a work of the most recent Czech literature dealing, in its turn, with the theme of “home”. It will deliver new viewpoints of both this theme and the novel.

The project will also provide for sharing of experience between Czech and Norwegian partners in cultural entrepreneurship.

The project will primarily address general public and artists, secondarily also certain minorities and young adults.

Within the project:

We will create a new interdisciplinary theatre piece.

We will organize 14 public performances. Out of that Norwegian artists from our partner organization will actively take part in 4 performances (3 in Prague and 1 in Tromso). 13 of 14 performances will be interdisciplinary. At least in 1 of 14 performances, members of the Russian-speaking minority will actively take part.

We will organize 6 public discussions on the topic of “home” and on the notion of “home” from various perspectives.

We will organize 1 workshop (in Tromso) on cultural entrepreneurship intended for exchange of experience between Norwegian and Czech partners.

We will organize 1 workshop sharing artistic and technical skills for a group of physically handicapped people.

We will provide for an appropriate publicity for all project events. Finally, we will publish a bilingual brochure about the overall project.

Summary of project results

The project created a new theatre piece focused on questions related to the notion of “home”, which was performed many times in Czechia and Norway. The piece reflected a work of the most recent Czech literature.  Norwegian partners and several individuals and groups representing diverse minorities (physically handicapped people and national minorities) were involved in the project. Assisted by the Honorary Consulate in North of Norway.

In the course of the project, a new theatre piece - The Rainstick - was created, and then performed 21 times (mostly in Czechia, 2 times in Norway). In every performance, a “one-evening guest“ performed together with us. 4 performances were made with Norwegian partner, 1 performance for Russian-speaking minorities. In total, 7 discussions were organized with various guests after performances, and, together with partners, 2 workshops. A project website was created, 3 press released, a printed brochure about the project, and Communication Strategy. The project was promoted on the web and social networks and in media, as well as e.g. by posters on Prague’s street benches. The overall project generated a new, originally conceived theatre piece, a reflection of most recent Czech literature, international collaboration, participation of people from several types of minorities.

New piece was performed in total 21 times, 17 one-evening guests were involved. Besides exploring, together with the guests, visitors and participants in discussions and workshops coming from diverse environments, social, age and ethnic groups, the notion of “home”, a number of lasting relationships have been established, for example between Divadlo Kamen and Haugen Produksjoner, or relationships between people performing the intermezzi (often artists in various fields) and their adherents.

After the project, hundreds of people in Czechia and Norway have a unique experience from a theatre that asks questions. Tens of theatre professionals had an opportunity to find inspiration from workshops related to cultural entrepreneurship and artistic/technical skills.

Summary of bilateral results

The main partner of the project - the Haugen Produksjoner (the Haugen sisters) co-created a new production "The Rainstick". The key idea of the project, to compare the perception of "home" in Prague and the Arctic region of Norway, would not have been possible without these bilateral partners. With the main partners, the perspectives on the way theatre business is done in Norway and in the Czech Republic were significantly broadened; in each of these environments there are slightly different laws, opportunities and pitfalls. From the other sub-areas: the skills of the partners and their colleagues in the field of movement theatre - with both able-bodied and disabled people were incorporated. The main partners of the project also had longer experience in an international environment, which helped to gain some perspective and realistic expectations, for example regarding financial costs for the project promoter.New production Rain Stick will remain in the repertoire and will be reprised even after the end of the project, and cooperation with all the project partners and other participants will continue.
