Description

The elaboration of this plan is very important for the identification and prioritization of measures and investments that minimize the vulnerability of the Municipality and water resources to climate changes. This plan has an important role to the Municipal Strategy for the Climate Change Adaptation and for other municipal and intermunicipal strategies. It is also fundamental to get balance between "green" solutions (provided by nature) and "grey" solutions, as well as in engagement of population in the protection of this resources. The Plan for the Valorization and Rehabilitation of Streams and Rivers in Porto (PVRSRP) aims the protection and valorization of rivers and streams in Porto city´s in order to improve the adaptation to climate changes and reduce the vulnerability of the territory. The project plan to achieve the following goals: detailed characterization of rivers and streams; engagement and participation of all stakeholders; analysis of hazards and risks, considering different climatic scenarios; Identify and prioritize measures and investments in rivers and streams; and, promote the adaptation of water resources and the city to the effects of climate changes.
