Description

The aim of the project is to provide quality and accessible youth-friendly health care services that meet the needs of youth and to encourage young people to choose a healthier lifestyle in the territories of the municipalities of the project (Elektrėnai, Zarasai, Ignalina and Druskininkai). Achieving the intended goal will provide young people with confidential services that help to strengthen their physical and mental health, contribute to the promotion of healthy lifestyles in order to reduce the incidence of young people''s illnesses.

Organizing events for young people will promote social communication in the target municipalities, due to low youth employment and lack of events. These project activities will not only disseminate information on the activities of the Youth-friendly Health Care Services Coordination Centre, but also ensure social communication between young people, and ensure inter-institutional cooperation and the dissemination and sharing of knowledge and information through the participation of various institutions.

Summary of project results

The project address the issue of lack of quality and affordable youth-friendly health care services in municipalities of Elektrenai, Zarasai, Ignalina and Druskininkai (Lithuania).

The aim of the project is to provide quality and accessible youth-friendly health care services that meet the needs and to encourage young people to choose a healthier lifestyle in the territories of the municipalities of the project (Elektrenai, Zarasai, Ignalina and Druskininkai). Achieving the intended goal will provide young people (14-29 years old) with confidential services that help to strengthen their physical and mental health, contribute to the promotion of healthy lifestyles in order to reduce the incidence of young people''s illnesses and address young people''s concerns in a targeted way.

It should be noted that youth is a stage of age (from 14 to 29 years), when a person''s personality is formed, when he / she begins to participate in the life of society and influence him /her independently. During this period, people face many problems that they are often unable to overcome on their own. These include growing youth health problems, crime, drug addiction, unemployment, housing problems and more. The inability of a young person and those around them to deal with the problems that arise often has serious consequences for individuals and society as a whole. Another problem with the provision of health services to young people is the lack of a holistic approach and integration of health services for young people into other policies. This situation is likely to be affected by insufficient regulation of youth health policy, weak inter-institutional cooperation and low involvement of young people in youth activities and actions.

Investing in health care promotes a healthy lifestyle and reduces the risk of disease, and it is likely that health care spending will fall in the future as fewer diseases are diagnosed more quickly.

To address the issue described previously, there were group of the activities combined in the Project. Beginning with installation of JPSPP coordination center premises in every region involved in the project. Development and development of current and new algorithms, organizing experience sharing activities on algorithm implementations with project partners, organizing supervisions, participating in algorithm themed training to increase competences of specialists working with youth. And of course organizing health-enhancing activities for youth such trainings and camps.

In implementation of project activities there were 3 coordination centers established (1 without use of Project finances), 8 algorithms implemented, 3 experience sharing events and 4 supervisions organized, 26 trainings for specialists, 32 training sessions for youth, 1 camp accomplished. In the result of the activities there were consultations of JPSPP coordinator and psychologist provided to 3076 youngsters, 4 JPSPP coordinators trained to work on case management in 4 municipalities of Lithuania.

Organizing events for young people will promote social communication, the lack of which is felt in the target municipalities, due to low youth employment and lack of events. During the events, communication with new people will be encouraged, and educational activities will be carried out. These project activities will not only disseminate information on the activities of the JPSPP Coordination Center, but also ensure social communication between young people, and ensure inter-institutional cooperation and the dissemination and sharing of knowledge and information through the participation of various institutions.

The main beneficiary of the project was youth (14-29) who were and still able to get greater quality and affordable youth-friendly health care services in municipalities of Elektrenai, Zarasai, Ignalina and Druskininkai.
