Description

The primary aim of this project is to enhance energy efficiency and reduce CO2 emissions by renovating the Olympic Swimming Pool in Alba Iulia Municipality. The project''s technical approach encompasses seven energy efficiency measures:

  1. Upgrading the lighting system with energy-efficient LED lamps.
  2. Installing exterior shading aluminum blinds on north-west and south-east windows.
  3. Retrofitting the heat plant with two modern gas boilers to replace older ones.
  4. Implementing thermodynamic solar panels (ambient-water heat pumps).
  5. Integrating a high-efficiency small-scale combined heat and power system.
  6. Implementing variable air flow control with automation and electronic converter drive for the existing air handler unit.
  7. Establishing a Building Energy Management System (BEMS).

All these technical solutions align with Energy Audit Reports and address identified needs identified by auditors. Key project activities encompass external consultancy for technical design and financial audit, investment in new equipment, staff training, and publicity efforts to ensure project visibility.

The expected project outcomes include a reduction in energy consumption by 1,632.66 MWh/year and an annual reduction of 336 tonnes in CO2 equivalent emissions.
