In 4 communes of Jud. Sibiu (communes of Mosna, Bazna, Blajel and Hoghilag) the economic and social disparities between the Roma population and the other ethnic groups are very large, and within the group, the gender equity balance is unbalanced. Roma citizens are not fully accepted in activities initiated by other members of the community, have limited access to resources, jobs and income-generating activities, and benefit from limited medical, social and educational services. Every month in these municipalities there are social aid applications, all of which are submitted by Roma people.
The project aims to reduce the gaps between the Roma population and other members of the community and to balance the status of women who are most exposed to discrimination and social exclusion. The method proposed by the project is poultry farming. The beneficiaries of the project are mainly the most vulnerable people (about 600 people). They will receive chickens, feed and incubators and after the end of the first production cycle, they will donate a package of chickens to indirect beneficiaries selected according to the same principles. The chicken meat and eggs will initially satisfy the family''s need for food, and the financial needs will be covered by the development of the poultry micro farm and the sale.
The aim of the project is the sustainable and balanced development of the communities involved. Poultry rearing will be the trigger for deep transformations, boosting participatory development processes, resulting in economic progress and harmonious relationships between community members.
