Description

The main objective of the project is to install a high efficiency biogas cogeneration unit for reducing greenhouse gas emissions at the wastewater treatment plant, located in Cristesti, Mures county.
The proposed energy efficiency solution resulted from an energy audit on the wastewater treatment plant, on which all the energy carriers were analyzed. After analyzing the operation and the energy need for electricity and hot air and hot water in the Sludge Dryer, it was recommended the cogeneration solution through gas turbine technologies, without the possibility to deliver electricity into the power grid. The energy will be used for the technological processes of the wastewater treatment plant. Key activities of the project include:

  • External consultancy which includes technical designed and financial audit.
  • Investments related to the installation.
  • Project management by internal team.
  • Publicity to ensure the visibility of the project.

Expected outcomes of the project includes a reduction of energy consumption by 6.016,3 MWh/year and CO2 equivalent emission reduction per year by 1.215 tonnes. The company will also increase the monetary savings significantly from the energy efficiency measures.
