Description
The need to implement this project comes from the lack of civic involvement that Dolj County is facing. #YOUth in action for the local community addresses the problem of the lack of active participation of citizens in the life of the community and wants to change their mentality regarding civic activities and volunteering. We especially support the involvement of the secondary school students from rural, small urban and urban peripheral areas, due to the role they can play in transforming the local community. This is possible through civic education, leadership skills development and proactive involvement in solving community problems. Through the 3 objectives, the project aims to offer the 200 beneficiary students the necessary tools for personal development as citizens and responsible involvement in the community. Through non-formal education activities and programs, the project will achieve the desired results. The young people will take part in the clubs (EROI, Lego Serious Play, VIATA and #TINEri) to develop the skills mentioned above. In order to ensure both the sustainability of the project and that of the association, organizational development measures have been taken into account and they will contribute to the achievement of the project results. In order to achieve this objective we will carry out 3 activities that include the accreditation of the EROI program, the development of working skills with young people and the development of internal procedures. The management activities will ensure a good implementation of the project, and those of information and communication will guarantee visibility and will increase efficient civic participation.
Summary of project results
The objectives of the project was: to increase the civic involvement of 200 high school students from 3 schools in rural and urban Dolj by improving civic education through the education program through EROI and by running 3 clubs local action in order to promote active citizenship among young people and to produce positive changes in their lives and in the community.
"A HERO is a person who uses his/her gifts and abilities to make positive changes in his/her life and to have a positive impact in the lives of others." This is the definition that the 218 beneficiary students heard in EROI -a value-based project. The applicant developed and applied the EROI (HEROES) program with 218 students in leadership classes for 3 partner schools: Mihai Eminescu Secondary School (no. 37) Craiova, Filiasi Secondary School, Alexandru Macedonski Melinesti Technological High School.
During the reporting period, all project activities were successfully completed. The opinions of the beneficiary students best summarize the project: With the help of the Heroes program, I learned not to be withdrawn and to socialize with others and to have more confidence in myself. The Heroes Handbook helped me a lot with stories about people who didn''t give up on their dreams and got where they wanted, as Abraham Lincoln said, "The path was rough and slippery. My foot slipped from under me, but I -I came back and said to myself: I slipped, I didn''t fall. "- Cornel 8th grade, Melinesti, Dolj. I was in the first camp of my life! I discovered myself and increased my self-confidence. I was called a VOLUNTEER HERO in my school. The meetings made me understand and discover what needs to be changed and how to change for the better my community- Denisa, cls.a 7a, Bilta, Dolj. This project really helped me to discover myself more and brought me many benefits and I am sure that it was not only me who helped me! - Irina, cls. a7a, Filiasi. The project brought us recognition within the School by both teachers and colleagues and gave us the opportunity to do something for our school. I love the idea of this project! Alisia, cls. a7a, Sc.
