Description

The main objective of the project is to increase energy efficiency in public lighting system and to reduce CO2 emissions by modernizing the public lighting system. The Vitomiresti Commune intends to rehabilitate the existing public lighting system in the Commune with a total length of 42,6 km. The existing bodies will be replaced with 1.190 efficient luminaries, with LEDs (Lighting Emitting Diode) of 20W - 50W, even 80W depending on the photometric level required by the street category.

The LED system will ensure a better control of the dispersion of the light, which ensures the reduction of the light pollution and reduces the losses and the risk of blindness caused by the brightness of the light.
After the project will be implemented, the annual consumption of primary energy in public lighting (MWh/year) and the greenhouse gas emissions will be reduced by a minimum of 67,51%. These works will be done as not to damage or affect the environment and the existing ecosystems in the area. Key activities of the project include:

  • Project management.
  • Investments related to the new system.
  • Publicity to ensure the visibility of the project.

The activities of the project will lead the applicant to reach its targets and will have a positive impact on the development of the applicant on the basis of the savings that will be registered by the reduction of the electricity costs and CO2 emission reduction.

Summary of project results

The investment involved the modernization of the public lighting system on all streets in Vitomiresti commune, which have a total length of 42.6 km. Through the project, 1,190 new and efficient lighting lamps were installed. Following the implementation of the project, the following outcome indicators will be reached:

  • reduction of energy consumption by 118.70 MWh
  • reduction of C02 equivalent emissions per year: 36.32 tonnes C02 equivalent / year.
  • annual monetary savings from energy efficiency measures: 5,506 Euro
