Description

The main focus of the project "Our school for everyone" is to develop conditions, particularly human and professional resources for quality intercultural educational programs, using Romani language as well as to support primary and secondary schools interested in development of inclusive education through intercultural approach. Through the implementation of the project we wish to grow in students positive relationship to own and foreign property and show them that the only way for better future leads through the knowledge and education. The project will increase the social inclusion of Roma children by creating positive attitude towards education, duties and responsibilities, the social and cultural values, and not least to the awareness of their own values and the need to integrate into society. The project outputs will be ensured through teaching of Romani cultural studies, which will be incorporated into the school curricula as an optional subject for all students.

Summary of project results

The project has been of great benefit to students and school staff, as the school is attended by 95% of students from marginalized Roma communities. The students knew very little about their past, did not know the history, traditions, customs and traditions of the Roma. In the locality where they live, the Roma do not use their mother tongue and have known it for only the older generation. The project familiarized themselves with the history of Roma, their customs and traditions in general, and in their area, which has a rich tradition also Roma crafts such as basketry they already know just some old Roma in the village. Students know the basics of the Roma language, for them were created conditions for further education in their own language, provided books, textbooks, workbooks in the Roma language. As part of events organized during the project actively participated in various school events and parents, thereby improving cooperation between schools and parents, grandparents pupils. Despite the fact that normally parents are not interested in school life, the project actions were interested to them and are willing to participate in the future ans tehy likely welcomed such an actions. This project enhanced the cooperation with other schools in the vicinity, new communities and events were created, which have already been already repeated and they generate the new opportunities for the expansion and consolidation. The project was an opportunity to ensure that these activities could be created and implemented in the future.
