Summary of project results
Several problems arose within the project, such as the Covid-19 pandemic, which caused the cancellation of cultural events. In this case, the purchase of technology for creating a 3D presentation proved to be very useful, thanks to which it was possible to continue the activity of the gallery even in these limited conditions. Several other activities, such as the introductory conference, were moved to the online space. Another challenge was the complications with the first construction contractor and the suspension of the project, which caused a significant delay and slippage in meeting project milestones, and increased prices for some items.
The project was dedicated to the restoration, revitalization of the national cultural monument - the building of functionalism architecture called "Gallery Umelka" situated in the centre of City of Bratislava. The project was focused on the complex modernization of the premises of this building so that it could meet the standards of the modern gallery space. The part of the project was also the creation of new multifunctional pavilion in the garden of Umelka, which is intended for exhibitions, workshops, lectures, facilities for residences and other events of various types. At the same time, as part of the soft activities of the project, events in Umelka Gallery were focused on artistic sensibilities in the community, drawing attention to important current social topics, support the culture of minorities and the fight against extremism.
Thanks to the results of the project CLT01010, the complex modernization of the premises could be carried out with the results of the improvement of the conditions for artists, exhibiting classic works as well as new media. With the involvement of educational institutions and activities, the project had an educational impact on young people, children and the general public. The activities also supported presentations of the cultural heritage of minorities, which gives artists from the communities the opportunity to present their work and view important current issues. In the future, this may have the effect of reducing extremism and, on the contrary, promoting empathy, understanding and artistic feeling in society.
