Summary of project results
The scope of the project and the manner of its implementation result from the diagnosed needed:
1. A deficit in the scope of forms of education allowing for the acquisition of competences, knowledge and practical skills in various areas of artistic event production.
Both in Poland and Norway there was a lack of courses and trainings allowing to prepare for work in cultural institutions dealing with organization of interdisciplinary artistic events. Art colleges - both music and visual arts - educated only in strictly artistic professions (musician, visual arts artist, etc.), omitting the training of staff, necessary to function in the sector of cultural industries. There were no studies or courses for future music managers, organizers of artistic bands or visual arts curators. Similarly, in the area of music education - the education was mainly in the direction of teaching music in schools and is not adapted to the needs of modern cultural institutions, carrying out extensive activities in the area of cultural and artistic education.
2. the needs of institutions and organisations.
All participating partners - Mieczysław Karłowicz Philharmonic in Szczecin (Lider), Fjord Cadenza (Norwegian Partner) and TRAFO Art Centre (Polish Partner) - recognised the need to implement the project due to emerging staff deficits and difficulties in finding qualified employees and collaborators. The lack of appropriate forms and scope of education results in a shortage of specialists from the area of creative industries on the market. In recent years, together with the implementation of further investments in the cultural infrastructure, the number of venues equipped towards the implementation of non-standard artistic events has increased. However, there were few specialists who were able to function in these new conditions, and they were also reluctant to share their knowledge in this area. This maked the institutions either underutilise their potential, or they had to allocate high amounts in their budgets to remunerate these professionals, with almost no possibility of negotiation.
The project involved a series of courses, apprenticeships and internships for employees of the cultural sector, implemented in close partnership between the project partners: Mieczysław Karłowicz Philharmonic in Szczecin (Lider), Fjord Cadenza (Norwegian Partner) and TRAFO Art Centre (Polish Partner). Additionally, within each of the course paths, a module on audience development were implemented.
