Description

The project aims to upgrade the study program Tourism at the Metropolitan University Prague on the basis of Norwegian inspiration (University of Stavanger). The project would like to introduce new courses oriented on Accessible tourism and Destination management (Overtourism) and to make some innovations in the courses taught at Metropolitan University Prague which will be enhanced in sense of inclusive education. The necessity of the project reflects the growing importance of sustainable and accessible tourism. The emphasis on accessible tourism will strengthen the supply and availability of inclusive education in both countries. The development of accessible tourism education will enable the preparation of professionals who will be able to respond in practice to the needs of people with disabilities. An intermediate result of the project is creation of functional dialogue among the project''s partners and other participants, and development of student mobility. A secondary objective will be the impact of the project results to expert community and general public, thanks to the international workshop in Prague and organization of new courses for students.

Summary of project results

The project introduced new and innovated courses oriented on Accessible tourism and Destination management. Accessible tourism aims at enabling all people to participate in and enjoy tourism experiences including people with disability. The Metropolitan University in Prague (MUP) was inspired by the experience of the University of Stavanger in modernizing its study programme. The project strengthened internationalisation and cooperation between partner institutions.
The project was divided into sub-activities (questionnaire for students, mutual learning activities between university staff, joint research article, and evaluation), resulting in new courses offered to MUP students in the winter semester 2022/2023.

Summary of bilateral results

The Norwegian partner was involved in the activities and contributed to the fulfilment of the project''s goals. This bilateral project addressed several of UN’s Sustainable Development Goals.
